History of the Centre for Translational Medicine<\/h1>\n

The history of translational medicine \u2013 from research to healing<\/p>\n

<\/b>One of the greatest challenges of modern medicine today is not the lack of new scientific findings, but the slow pace of their practical application<\/strong>. Translational medicine answers this challenge: its goal is to ensure that laboratory discoveries, clinical research and innovations reach patients as quickly<\/strong> and efficiently as possible<\/strong>, becoming tangible benefits for society.<\/p>\n

In Hungary, the translational mindset gained fresh momentum in 2016, when the first Translational Medicine Centre<\/strong> was established under the leadership of Professor P\u00e9ter Hegyi<\/strong> at the University of P\u00e9cs<\/a>. The initiative was supported by the Translational Medicine Foundation<\/strong>, which provided methodological foundations, digital infrastructure and an international network.<\/p>\n

The model\u2019s success soon grew to national scale: St George Hospital in Sz\u00e9kesfeh\u00e9rv\u00e1r and Heim P\u00e1l Children\u2019s Hospital in Budapest<\/strong> also joined.<\/p>\n

Semmelweis University CTM \u2013 at the forefront of Europe<\/p>\n

Since its foundation in 2021, the Centre for Translational Medicine (CTM) of Semmelweis University<\/strong> has become one of Europe\u2019s largest and fastest-growing TM centres. The Centre provides a platform where basic research, clinical care, education and data-driven innovation work closely together<\/strong>. Our goal is to set science in motion for healing<\/strong>, so that research results serve patient care not years later, but from the very moment they are produced.<\/p>\n

A key mission of the CTM is training the next generation of healthcare professionals. Students gain not only scientific knowledge but also hands-on experience<\/strong>, enabling them to make a direct impact on the quality of patient care.<\/p>\n

International expansion \u2013 the future of the CTM<\/p>\n

The translational medicine model will reach a new milestone in 2025<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

\u2022 at the University of Szeged<\/strong> and<\/p>\n

\u2022 at the Medical University of Vienna<\/strong>
\nPhD training<\/strong> as well as supervisor master training<\/strong> will be launched.<\/p>\n

This not only increases the programme\u2019s international weight, but also allows students and lecturers to become part of a cross-institutional knowledge community<\/strong> \u2013 a scientific network that is already building tomorrow\u2019s healthcare today.<\/p>\n

Technological and research-support background<\/p>\n

The CTM is not only an educational centre but also a resource hub supporting research<\/strong>:<\/p>\n
