{"id":4749,"date":"2020-06-03T00:23:51","date_gmt":"2020-06-02T22:23:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/szaknyelv\/?page_id=4749"},"modified":"2025-05-30T13:31:20","modified_gmt":"2025-05-30T11:31:20","slug":"faculty-of-dentistry","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/szaknyelv\/en\/education\/demonstrator-teaching-assistant\/faculty-of-dentistry\/","title":{"rendered":"Faculty of Dentistry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Dear Students of Dentistry,<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">We are pleased to inform you that the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at Semmelweis University has approved the call for demonstrator applications from the Institute of Languages for Specific Purposes for the 2025\/26 academic year (from September, for 10 months, 20 hours per month).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">If you are passionate about languages, now is your chance to apply as a demonstrator for the following courses:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">&#8211; L<strong>anguage courses<\/strong> <strong>for Dentistry<\/strong> taught in English, German, French, Italian, Russian or Spanish within the Hungarian-language program<br \/>\n&#8211; <strong>Hungarian language courses for Dentistry<\/strong> taught in the English and German programs<br \/>\n&#8211; Courses in <strong>dentakl medical terminology<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Demonstrators at the Institute of Languages for Specific Purposes participate in a variety of exciting activities:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li>Assisting language instructors in preparing\u00a0<strong>language classes<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>research activities<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Collecting and organizing\u00a0<strong>authentic language materials<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Compiling\u00a0<strong>thematic glossaries<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Digitizing and processing\u00a0<strong>dental-medical documentation<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Participating in the collection of\u00a0<strong>terminological databases<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Assisting in the\u00a0<strong>supervision of papers, written and oral exams<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Acting as\u00a0<strong>simulated patients<\/strong>, assisting language instructors in providing authentic simulations of dental-medical situations and practising patient-centred communication (in courses for dental-medical communication).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Expectations<\/strong>\u00a0from Teaching Assistants at the Institute of Languages for Specific Purposes:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify\" start=\"3\">\n<li>a) at least second-year students; <br \/>\nb) a GPA of at least 3.51 in the previous two semesters;<\/li>\n<li>c) for Hungarian and modern language courses: native or C1\/C2-level proficiency in the given language; advantage: participation and excellent grades in courses such as LSP I-IV, or Dental Medical Language Exam Prep; <br \/>\nd) for terminology courses: average of 4.5 or higher in Dental Medical and Specialist Terminology; advantage: high placement or &gt;80% result in Latin\/Terminology competitions; <br \/>\ne) high-level familiarity with the relevant language for modern languages; for terminology: solid knowledge of anatomy, clinical, and prescription vocabulary;\u00a0 <br \/>\nf) exemplary behavior and an active, enthusiastic attitude towards community life.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Application deadline: July 4, 2025\u00a0 <br \/>\nPlease submit your application by email to: <a href=\"mailto:app.demonstrator@gmail.com\">app.demonstrator@gmail.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">A <strong>valid application<\/strong> includes:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li>Completed and signed demonstrator application form (available for download from the Faculty of Dentistry website).<\/li>\n<li>A motivation letter of half to a maximum of one page.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Suggested content of the motivation letter: experience related to medical language (e.g., clinical \u00a0practice, volunteer work, international exchange, Profex exam, Latin\/Terminology competition placement), and your reasons for applying as a demonstrator.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a personal interview in <strong>mid-July<\/strong>. The date will be arranged via email.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Suitability assessments will be conducted by instructors of the Institute, and applicants will be notified of the decision by the <strong>end of July<\/strong> at the latest.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The final decision on appointments lies with the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine.
