The course provides an insight into the criteria of PhD theses written in English along with formal, structural, grammatical, and quality requirements. It demonstrates and practices the linguistic and grammatical criteria of correctly structured English theses through examples of good practice.<\/p>\n

    Final examination for PhD students<\/a><\/p>\n
    \n

    The following services are offered to PhD students and doctoral candidates by the Insitute of Languages for Specific Purposes:<\/u><\/em><\/strong> \u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Intermediate (B2) level professional English final examination <\/strong>for PhD students. The examination is a professional conversation (introduction and discussion about studies and professional career based on the curriculum vitae previously sent to the Institute of LSP).
      \n<\/strong><\/li>\n
    2. Threshold (A2-B1) university final language examination in German, French, Russian, Italian, Spanish or Latin for medicine, pharmacy or dentistry, as the second compulsory language examination<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      During the oral examination,\u00a0 PhD students give a 7-minute presentation (PowerPoint) about their PhD topic in the chosen foreign language. The ppt is to be emailed to the Department before the exam. In the case of Latin, the focus of the exam is the the abbreviations used in medicine.<\/p>\n

      1. The Department offers consultations in all the above listed languages to help students prepare<\/strong> for the examinations.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        The examinations will be held on request, at a time agreed in advance. <\/strong>A written certificate of completion is issued after a successful examination. Applicants can apply to the language examination coordinator of the Institute of LSP, Angelika Szab\u00f3, during term time \u00a0at\u00a0 szabo.angelika1@semmelweis.hu <\/a><\/p>\n

        1. Proofreading of scientific publications written in English<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          As per the request of the Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation, our Department offers proofreading services to PhD students covered by the university, with a 10 working day deadline. Please\u00a0 submit your proofreading requests to publication.lsp@semmelweis.hu<\/a><\/p>\n
