In these discussions our aim was to enable and support the value-oriented, high quality work between teachers and students on the level of regulations, which promotes the realization of Semmelweis University’s long-term strategic goals while keeping the interests of students in mind.

The main changes are described below:

In support of the digitalisation advances of recent years, the Moodle interfaces of the subjects have been regulated.

It is mandatory to make available the following: the schedule and requirements for examinations, the timetable, the slides and presentation extracts, and if possible a study guide detailing, defining and standardizing study requirements

It must be ensured that the student can access all the teaching material of the previously studied subjects in the Moodle until the end of the state exam.

To make sure that the requirements of each subject is transparent, every department has to specify:

how the results of the mid-semester assessments influence the determination of the mid-semester grade (practical grade), the exam grade and offered grade

any type of exam (if there is one), and the requirements for the exam (list of items, test exam topics, mandatory parameters, diagrams, concepts, calculations, practical skills required),

a list of the essential notes, textbooks, resources and literature that can be used to acquire the knowledge needed to master the course material and to complete the assessments of academic performance, indicating precisely which parts of the material are needed to meet which requirements (e.g. by item),

in the case of a subject lasting more than one semester, the position of the teaching/research department on the possibility of parallel enrolment and the conditions for its authorisation,

the possibility and requirement of offering the final grade

the extent of the delay that is still acceptable

Changes related to subjects and subject registrations:

To prevent regular enrolment annoyances, timetables can be set up within a controlled framework so that no one is excluded from their own group. Everyone is obliged to enroll in courses appropriate to their own subject area. Exceptions to this rule may be made only with the approval of the relevant teaching/research department and only for specific reasons and with the permission of the Board of Studies and Examinations. In the case of students with the same curriculum, 2 students may swap courses.

A new provision to enhance interactivity and to promote practice-oriented forms of training is that in the case of courses consisting only of theoretical sessions – not including courses that are technically separated into lectures and practical sessions at the Faculty of Pharmacy – on the one small-group practical seminar per month, held at the time of the lecture at least 75% attendance is mandatory.

In order to ensure the smooth running of classes, it is a new provision that students are required to attend lectures, practical sessions and seminars in the proper attire and in a state of readiness for the lecture or practical session. In case of suspicion of inadequate physical, mental or psychological condition (illness, abnormal fatigue, medication or other mind-altering substances, alcohol), the student may not start or continue the lecture or practice.

As a new element to encourage continuous learning and to lighten the burden of the examination period, the mid-term performance assessment for a subject leading to an exam grade

cannot be the prerequisite for the signature but may result in the granting of a discount or an additional task for those who perform well or poorly,

can result in a reduction in the number of examinations or additional tasks as specified in the subject programme (subject requirements) (exemption from practical examination, pop-in exam, certain parts of the examination)

The number of students eligible for an offered grade has doubled. If there are less than 3 workdays between two holidays in an examination period, 1 (i.e. one) examination day must be provided with a 120 per cent allocation of places, and if there are 3 or more workdays between two holidays, at least 2 (i.e. two) examination days must be provided,

Based on experience and feedback, the deadlines for submitting and taking exams have been changed: you can apply for an exam no later than 23 hours before the exam date, and withdraw your application no later than 24 hours before the exam date,

Permission to take an exam outside the examination period can be requested for up to two weeks instead of one week.

In order to protect personal information, the lecturer in charge of the subject will ensure that when communicating the results, students will not be able to know each other’s names or Neptune identifiers associated with the results.

Incorporation of incomplete provisions in the regulations of the Faculty of Medicine’s clinical block system:

The number of exam days, the way to register for the exam and the possibility to do 1 more final exam during the optional six-week block are prescribed,

If there are two or fewer days available to take the exams, you can register for the exam until 6:00 on the day of the exam and withdraw your registration until 0:00 on the day of the exam.

The Regulations will be applied for the first time for the autumn semester of the academic year 2022/2023, if it is more favorable to the student, the provisions of the Regulations may also be applied to pending cases.

For students who started their studies before the entry into force of the Regulations, the obligation laid down in the Regulations in force at the time they started their studies shall continue to apply, but the faculty may apply the new study requirement provided that it is more favorable to the student.
