It is essential for receiving free or reduced-cost healthcare and is also required for legal employment in Hungary. The TAJ card also provides discounts on prescribed medications.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who is Eligible?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Scholarship Students:<\/strong><br \/>\nStudents under the <strong>Stipendium Hungaricum<\/strong><strong>, Christian Young Scholarship<\/strong>, or <strong>Diaspora Scholarship<\/strong> programs are entitled to free public healthcare upon obtaining a TAJ Card.\u00a0<strong>Please note that you do not need to apply for a card separately as the University coordinator handles applications for you.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Self-funded (Fee-paying) Students:<\/strong><br \/>\nFee-paying students are not entitled to free healthcare. To apply for a TAJ card, they must pay a monthly contribution. For foreign nationals studying in Hungary in full-time education, the monthly contribution is based on 30% of the minimum wage applicable on the day the agreement is concluded.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Important Information:<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8211; Only emergency dental care is available.<br \/>\n&#8211; The TAJ card is only valid in Hungary.<br \/>\n&#8211; You cannot register on transplantation or surgical waiting lists.<br \/>\n&#8211; Examinations and treatments related to pre-existing conditions before applying for the TAJ card are not covered.<\/p>\n<p>Be aware that at least the first part of the fee needs to be paid when the application is submitted at the NEAK\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Termination of contract <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The agreement is terminated if the contribution is not paid and can also be terminated by giving notice. If the monthly fee is not paid by the 12th of the month, it will be terminated from the start of next month or can be cancelled by visiting the NEAK central office personally.<\/li>\n<li>Be aware that within 3 days of termination the agreement, the physical card TAJ card (if you already received one) must be handed in at the government office.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<\/div><h2 class=\"tabtitle\"><strong>Application<\/strong><\/h2>\n<div class=\"tabcontent\">\n\n<h3>Step 0: Obtain Your Residence Permit<\/h3>\n<p>Before initiating the TAJ card application, ensure you have received your Hungarian residence permit.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 1: Gather the following documents<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Valid passport<\/strong> (or ID card)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Address card<\/strong> or proof of residence (a QR code-based certificate is also acceptable)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Residence permit card<\/strong> (both sides scanned or copied)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Student status certificate<\/strong> (issued by the university, valid for 30 days)<\/li>\n<li><strong>For scholarship holders:<\/strong> Proof of scholarship (e.g., Letter of Award)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Completed TAJ card application form<\/strong> (downloadable from the <a href=\"https:\/\/neak.gov.hu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NEAK website<\/a>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ensure that the information on these documents matches exactly with your data in the Neptun system. If discrepancies exist, contact your Registrar\u2019s Office to update your information before submission.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 2: In-Person Procedure at the NEAK Office<\/h3>\n<p>The TAJ card application must be submitted in person at the National Health Insurance Fund of Hungary (NEAK) office along with your documents.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NEAK Office Address:<\/strong><br \/>\n1139 Budapest, Teve Street 1\/a-c.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Google Maps link<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/2vZHcWA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/bit.ly\/2vZHcWA<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Step 3: Application Review and Processing<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>An administrator will review your application.<\/li>\n<li>Correct applications will be forwarded to the Central Registrar\u2019s Office (CRO).<\/li>\n<li>The TAJ number is registered in the Neptun system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Processing time is approximately 3\u20134 weeks.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Step 4: Receiving Your TAJ Card<\/h3>\n<p>Once your TAJ card is ready, you will be notified by the CRO. You can collect your card in person at the designated office.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Validity and renewal of the TAJ card:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The validity of the TAJ card usually matches the validity of your residence permit. Before renewing your TAJ card, make sure your residence permit is valid!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Steps:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Gather the required documents (see above).<\/li>\n<li>Visit the NEAK office in person: 1139 Budapest, Teve Street, 1\/a-c.<\/li>\n<li>Once your TAJ card is ready, you will be notified by the CRO. You can collect your card in person at the designated office.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Replacing a lost or damaged TAJ card:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If the TAJ card is lost, damaged, or destroyed, a new card can be requested at the NEAK customer service office in person.
