{"id":18196,"date":"2024-05-17T11:14:26","date_gmt":"2024-05-17T09:14:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/phd\/?p=18196"},"modified":"2024-10-26T07:33:54","modified_gmt":"2024-10-26T05:33:54","slug":"information-for-applicants-for-the-md-phd-excellence-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/phd\/en\/2024\/05\/17\/information-for-applicants-for-the-md-phd-excellence-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Information for Applicants for the MD-PhD Excellence Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><strong>Information for Applicants for the MD-PhD Excellence Program<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p><strong>Application\u00a0for 2024\/25\/1 semester<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Deadline: 16 May 2024 \u2013 7 June 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Interviews will be organized in June 2024.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The application form is\u00a0available:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/phd\/files\/2024\/05\/Jelentkezesi-lap_MDPHD_angol_2024_25_1.doc\">Download<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Applications can be submitted to the following email address: <\/strong><a href=\"mailto:phd.palyazatok@semmelweis.hu\">phd.palyazatok@semmelweis.hu<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>No printed\/posted documents are to be sent to the Doctoral Office.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Admission decision will be taken by a scientific board based on the applicant general and topic-related knowledge and previous scientific activity.<\/p>\n<p>The admission decision will be released by the end of July.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Admitted MD-PhD students are supposed to start the last or the last two years of their graduate studies in the 2024\/2025 academic year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The tuition fee for Semmelweis University students is 4000 EUR \/ semester, non- Semmelweis University students is 8000 EUR\/semester (Based on recommendation of the academic supervisors the tuition fee can be reduced).<\/p>\n<p>Tuition fee for Translational Medicine Program is 10000 EUR for an academic year or 6000 EUR \/ semester.<\/p>\n<p>The tuition fee is supposed to be paid by 30 September 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Students should contact the Financial management Unit (<a href=\"mailto:titkarsag.digh@semmelweis.hu\">titkarsag.digh@semmelweis.hu<\/a>) of the Doctoral School to arrange the invoice.<\/p>\n<p>Participants of the MD-PhD Excellence Program are obliged to take a complex, comprehensive exam by the end of the 4th active semester. The students can only enter the second part of the study program upon the successful completion of the complex exam.<\/p>\n<p>The exam has two parts:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The practical part (students have to present their scientific achievements).<\/li>\n<li>The theoretical part (1 main subject, one additional subject)<\/li>\n<li>Recommendation for the subjects of the complex exam and for the members of the professional board of the theoretical exam is given by the Doctoral Divisions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The spring semester complex exam period is in June, August or September. The autumn semester exam period is in February and March.<\/p>\n<p>The Doctoral Divisions and Translational Medicine Center\u00a0 send information about the main and additional subjects and about the date and venue of the exam.<\/p>\n<p>Application form for complex exam is available:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/phd\/en\/doctoral-division-regulations\/downloadable-forms-for-students\/\">https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/phd\/en\/doctoral-division-regulations\/downloadable-forms-for-students\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Students of the MD-PhD Excellence Program have to publish at least two scientific papers of which the cumulated impact factor (IF) should be equal or exceed\u00a0<strong>150%<\/strong>\u00a0of IF requirements of trained PhD students in the given discipline. For further information please refer to \u201cThe fulfilment of PhD degree acquisition requirements of trained PhD students\u201d:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 2\/3 of IF requirements (100%) has to be fulfilled with at least two original papers related to the dissertation topic. The Student must have at least one \u201cfirst-author\u201d paper published in a Journal whose IF exceeds 50% of requirements. Another 1\/3 of IF requirements (50%) should be fulfilled with scientific publications which might not relate to the topic of the dissertation, and the order of authors is arbitrary.<\/p>\n<p>The publication requirements of the Translational Medicine Program are different, please contact them directly.
