{"id":15923,"date":"2026-06-17T13:31:19","date_gmt":"2026-06-17T11:31:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/pharmacology\/?p=15923"},"modified":"2026-06-17T13:31:19","modified_gmt":"2026-06-17T11:31:19","slug":"professor-huba-kalasz-passed-away","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/pharmacology\/en\/2026\/06\/17\/professor-huba-kalasz-passed-away\/","title":{"rendered":"Professor Huba Kal\u00e1sz passed away"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify\" data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\">It is with a heavy heart that we announce that our former colleague, Professor Dr. Huba Kal\u00e1sz, passed away at the age of 85.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify\">Dr. Huba Kal\u00e1sz obtained his degree in chemistry from J\u00f3zsef Attila University in Szeged in 1963. He began his scientific career in Budapest at the Institute for Drug Research and then continued at the Department of Pharmacology of the Budapest University of Medical Sciences. In 1970, he earned his PhD degree; in 1987, he was awarded the title Doctor of Chemical Sciences of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences; and in 1994, he obtained his habilitation. Following his retirement, he continued to work at the institute as a scientific advisor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify\">He maintained extensive international collaborations and spent shorter and longer periods at foreign universities (Yale University, New Haven, Department of Pharmacology and Cell Biophysics, College of Medicine; University of Cincinnati, USA, Department of Pharmacology; and the Department of Pharmacology &amp; Therapeutics, College of Medicine &amp; Health Sciences, United Arab Emirates University).<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: justify\">Throughout his scientific career, his main field of interest was analytical chemistry, particularly the development and application of chromatographic methods. Through his research work, he made a significant contribution to the introduction and establishment of modern liquid chromatographic and bioanalytical methods in Hungary. His investigations focused on the determination of drugs, metabolites, and biologically active compounds, as well as on the study of their pharmacokinetic and biochemical characteristics.
