This summer, the International Narcotics Research Conference 2025 (INRC2025), a key event in opioid research, was held in Bologna. In addition to four plenary lectures, numerous sessions were organised to present the latest findings of both basic and clinical opioid research. Topics included novel behavioural and in vitro assays, as well as the roles of various brain regions and neuronal circuits involved in addiction. Presentations also addressed orphan G protein-coupled receptors, nociceptin, and the endogenous opioid system in relation to pain perception and opioid use disorder.<\/p>\n

Our research group presented three posters during the conference. The poster sessions, along with coffee breaks, provided valuable opportunities to establish connections with different research groups, especially those who also focused on pain research. In our free time, we also had the opportunity to explore the medieval city centre of Bologna.<\/p>\n\r\n [slb_exclude]\r\n
