Analysing the physiology of the gastrointestinal tract (i.e. factors and receptors involved in mucosal defense, regulation of motility and blood flow) and the pathomechanism of various gastrointestinal diseases (peptic ulcer, inflammatory bowel disease, drug-induced enteropathy)
