As part of its professional tour in China, the delegation of Semmelweis University visited Southern Medical University in Guangzhou to discuss future opportunities for institutional cooperation. The meeting marked the beginning of a new professional partnership, which is expected to be further strengthened in the near future by the signing of a memorandum of understanding.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Southern Medical University is one of China\u2019s prominent medical universities. Founded in 1951, the institution has a strong historical background in medical education, research and clinical training. It was designated as a national key university in 1979 and has operated under the name Southern Medical University since 2004.<\/p>\n

Semmelweis University’s delegation was welcomed by senior representatives of Southern Medical University, including Kewei Xu, Vice President and Chief Physician of the Urology Department; Hongjuan Peng, Director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation and Professor of Pathogen Biology; Jinhua Zhang, Director of the Institute of Scientific Research; Jia Sun, Director of the International Medical Center of Zhujiang Hospital and Chief Physician of the Endocrinology Department; Chenguang Shen, Assistant Dean of the School of Public Health and Professor of Virology; Shan Jiang, Vice Dean of the International Dental School; and Wei Li, Deputy Director of the Skills Training Center at Nanfang Hospital.<\/p>\n

The programme began with a tour of the Human Science Museum of Southern Medical University, which provided insight into the institution\u2019s educational and scientific background. The visit contributed to a better mutual understanding of the two universities\u2019 professional profiles, as well as their educational and clinical strengths.<\/p>\n

The visit continued at the International Medical Center of Nanfang Hospital, the First Affiliated Hospital of Southern Medical University. The Semmelweis delegation gained insight into the centre\u2019s international patient care activities, professional operations, and institutional model supporting the care of foreign patients.<\/p>\n\r\n [slb_exclude]\r\n

The central element of the event was the bilateral cooperation discussion, during which the participants reviewed potential areas of cooperation in medical and health sciences education, clinical collaboration, research, international mobility, and professional exchange. The discussion laid the foundation for future cooperation between the two institutions, with the next important step being the preparation and signing of a memorandum of understanding.<\/p>\n

The visit to Southern Medical University was an important stop in Semmelweis University\u2019s professional tour in China.
