<\/p>\nAs part of the Budapest Diplomatic Dialogue on EU Integration, an Albanian delegation visited Semmelweis University on 31 March 2026 to gain insight into Hungary\u2019s experience related to EU integration and the role of higher education in this process. The programme was organised by the Hungarian Diplomatic Academy, operating within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, under the framework of the Action Plan signed between Hungary and Albania in Budapest on 28 November 2024.<\/p>\n

The broader objective of the training series is to present the key stages of the accession process and to share Hungarian experiences related to both preparation for EU membership and the coordination and impact of the changes that followed accession.<\/p>\n
The visit to Semmelweis University was hosted by Dr. Tam\u00e1s Heged\u00fcs, Director for International Relations and Alumni Affairs, and attended by representatives of the Hungarian Diplomatic Academy and Semmelweis University.<\/p>\n
The delegation was led by Elona Ajazi, General Director of the Policy and EU Integration Department, who introduced the members of the visiting group and outlined the main objectives of the visit. During the meeting, participants discussed the role of higher education in strengthening bilateral relations, with particular emphasis on student and staff mobility, joint research activities, and institutional partnerships.<\/p>\n
As part of the programme, Dr. Tam\u00e1s Heged\u00fcs delivered a presentation introducing Semmelweis University, its international profile, and its strategic priorities. The exchange highlighted the University\u2019s strong international orientation and its openness to developing new academic partnerships. The meeting also provided an opportunity for a professional exchange on the changing landscape of higher education and the importance of international cooperation in the context of European integration. Attention was given to the opportunities and challenges related to mobility, research collaboration, and tailor-made educational programmes, while both sides agreed that identifying common academic and scientific interests could provide a solid foundation for future cooperation.<\/p>\n
Participants also discussed the role of higher education in supporting the younger generation, especially through access to international experience, academic exchange, and cross-border educational opportunities. The Albanian side underlined the strategic importance of higher education, research, and innovation in the country\u2019s broader European integration efforts. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to continue the dialogue and explore practical forms of cooperation in the fields of education, research, and innovation.<\/p>\n
Following the meeting, the delegation visited the Department of Pathology and Experimental Cancer Research, where they were guided by Dr. Rich\u00e1rd Kiss, Clinical Specialist.
