The Srinakharinwirot University\u2019s delegation from Thailand visited Semmelweis University on 4 November 2025 with the aim of gaining deeper insight into the institution\u2019s operations, educational system and potential areas for cooperation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The delegation consisted of Nantana Choomchuay, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Srinakharinwirot University, Arucha Treesirichod, Associate Dean for Medical Education and Student Affairs, and Parkkapus Shoowit, Associate Dean for International Relations.<\/p>\n

The first stop of the visit was the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, where the guests were welcomed by director Prof. Dr. L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Tam\u00e1s and Dr. Tibor Szal\u00f3ki, Assistant Professor, who provided an overview of the Hungarian healthcare and higher education systems. The delegation expressed particular interest in student and staff mobility, health insurance, as well as the possibility and financing of short-term academic and clinical programs. During the visit, the guests had the opportunity to view the audiology centre and the operating theatres of the department.<\/p>\n

The delegation then continued to the Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Dermatooncology, where Prof. Dr. P\u00e9ter Holl\u00f3, Director, presented the clinical activities, patient care, research areas and capacities of the institution. During a guided tour, the visitors also explored the laboratories, where Dr. Bal\u00e1zs Mayer, Senior Research Fellow, introduced the work of the Genetics and Stem Cell Laboratory. The delegation also met international students completing their clinical practice at the department, who shared their experiences about studying at Semmelweis University.<\/p>\n

The programme continued at the Institute of Pathology and Experimental Cancer Research, where Dr. Andr\u00e1s Matolcsy, Director of the Institute, welcomed the guests. The visitors received a detailed introduction to the research activities, scientific achievements and international collaborations of the institute, while representatives of the Srinakharinwirot University also presented their own systems and scientific objectives. During the tour, the delegation was introduced to various research laboratories, lecture halls and the anatomy morgue.<\/p>\n

The official visit concluded with a meeting hosted by Dr. P\u00e9ter Hermann, Vice-Rector for Education, and Dr. Tam\u00e1s Heged\u00fcs, Director of the Directorate of International Relations and Alumni Affairs. During the session, Dr. Heged\u00fcs Tam\u00e1s presented the university\u2019s organisational structure, operations and international strategy, placing particular emphasis on student mobility and joint research collaborations. Key topics included the determination of student exchange numbers and identifying cooperation areas within translational medicine and PhD training. The meeting concluded with a preliminary agreement to sign a formal memorandum of understanding in the near future, facilitating the implementation of joint educational and research projects.<\/p>\n\r\n [slb_exclude]\r\n
