A delegation from the Shanghai Hospital Development Center paid an official visit to Semmelweis University on June 25, 2025. The delegation was welcomed by Prof. Dr. P\u00e9ter Nyir\u00e1dy, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, at the Department of Urology.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The negotiations were opened by Prof. Dr. Al\u00e1n Alp\u00e1r, Vice-Rector for International Affairs, who emphasized the importance of higher education relations between Hungary and China, highlighting that the number of Chinese students at Semmelweis University is increasing year by year.<\/p>\n

Following this, Dr. Tam\u00e1s Heged\u00fcs, Director of the Directorate of International Relations and Alumni Affairs, introduced the other Hungarian participants: Levente B\u00e9la V\u00e1g\u00f3, Deputy Director of the Directorate of International Relations and Alumni Affairs; Prof. Dr. Zsolt Moln\u00e1r, Director of the Department of Intensive Therapy; Dr. Tam\u00e1s Fazekas, specialist at the Department of Urology; and Dr. Xinda Li, PhD student at the Department of Periodontology.<\/p>\n

The Shanghai delegation included Ma Yanbin, President of Shanghai Ninth People\u2019s Hospital; Wang Chen, President of Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital; and Lu Jiahui, President of Shanghai Municipal Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In addition, representatives from the Shanghai Hospital Development Center were Deputy Director Lu Chunyun, Director of the Financial Center Yang Zhongwang, and Chief Accountant Chen Zhijun.<\/p>\n

In his presentation, Prof. Dr. P\u00e9ter Nyir\u00e1dy focused on the existing and potential future exchange programs between Semmelweis University and the Shanghai medical centers, which offer significant opportunities for both sides. He then provided an overview of Hungary\u2019s geographical and cultural context, emphasizing that China is one of Hungary\u2019s key strategic partners. During his talk, he presented in detail the university\u2019s research activities and the curriculum reform 2.0 which aimed at strengthening practical, hands-on training. He emphasized that Semmelweis University operates its own hospitals, which function independently, rather than relying solely on affiliated institutions for educational purposes.<\/p>\n

Following this, Dr. Tam\u00e1s Heged\u00fcs addressed the common areas of interest, especially highlighting the importance of student and faculty mobility as a cornerstone of cooperation between the two institutions. In this context, the Chinese delegation expressed a keen interest in the university\u2019s admission process, on which Prof. Dr. Al\u00e1n Alp\u00e1r provided a detailed explanation. The Vice-Rector stressed that ensuring a proper balance between education and research is a primary objective for the university, as this balance guarantees high-quality training and scientific advancement.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, the parties agreed that harmonizing clinical research methods is a shared goal, and both sides remain open to establishing new partnerships in the fields of student and faculty mobility as well as research collaborations, which could further strengthen scientific and educational ties between the two countries.<\/p>\n

After the discussions, the delegation took part in a clinical tour accompanied by Levente B\u00e9la V\u00e1g\u00f3 and Dr. Tam\u00e1s Heged\u00fcs. The first stop was the Department of Urology, where Dr. Tam\u00e1s Fazekas gave a detailed presentation on the department\u2019s operations. This was followed by a visit to the Department of Intensive Therapy, where Prof. Dr. Zsolt Moln\u00e1r showcased the innovative care models implemented there. Then the visit concluded at the Department of Pulmonology, where the delegation learned about the procedures used in the Non-Invasive Ventilation Therapy unit.<\/p>\n\r\n [slb_exclude]\r\n
