On 3 June 2025, the Clinical Centre of Semmelweis University welcomed a high-level Azerbaijani delegation. The visit included representatives from the State Agency on Mandatory Health Insurance of Azerbaijan (SAMHI) and the Administration of the Regional Medical Divisions (TABIB). The purpose of the meeting was to gain insights into the functioning of the Hungarian healthcare system and to explore opportunities for future professional collaboration.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The delegation was received by Prof. Dr. Attila Szab\u00f3, Vice-Rector for Clinical Affairs at Semmelweis University, who accompanied the guests to their first stop at the Department of Surgery, Transplantation and Gastroenterology. There, Prof. Dr. Attila Szij\u00e1rt\u00f3, Director of the Department, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the clinic\u2019s history, operations, and core medical activities. The presentation provided an overview of the clinic\u2019s practical work, its innovative approaches, and notable achievements.<\/p>\n

The visit then continued at the Medical Imaging Centre, where Prof. Dr. Attila Szab\u00f3 presented an institutional overview of Semmelweis University. His lecture placed special emphasis on the university\u2019s international relations, scientific collaborations, educational partnerships, and global recognition.<\/p>\n

During the discussions, the heads of the Azerbaijani delegation Zaur Aliyev, Chairman of the Board of SAMHI, and Vugar Gurbanov, Chief Executive Officer of TABIB expressed particular interest in the structure of the Hungarian healthcare system, especially in the organizational and economic model of Semmelweis University. They also explored the potential for professional exchanges and future staff and training mobility programmes.<\/p>\n

The visit concluded with a presentation by Prof. Dr. P\u00e1l Maurovich-Horvat, Director of the Medical Imaging Centre, who introduced the clinic\u2019s main areas of operation. He also showcased one of the university\u2019s newest technological assets: the world\u2019s most advanced CT scanner. This state-of-the-art device \u2013 delivered to Semmelweis University on 9 January 2025, ahead of its official global launch \u2013 is used specifically for the care of emergency and trauma patients and represents cutting-edge medical imaging technology on an international level.<\/p>\n\r\n [slb_exclude]\r\n
