{"id":3156,"date":"2021-10-14T15:20:33","date_gmt":"2021-10-14T13:20:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/nepegeszsegtan\/?page_id=3156"},"modified":"2022-08-23T14:56:00","modified_gmt":"2022-08-23T12:56:00","slug":"english","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/nepegeszsegtan\/en\/english\/","title":{"rendered":"Department of Public Health"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span id=\"page3R_mcid22\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Welcome on the webpage of the Department of Public Health!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>This department of the Semmelweis University is responsible for 1) education of Public Health, a mandatory subject at the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2) supervising thesises written in the topic of public health and 3) consultation on scientific work pursued our the field by members of the Students&#8217; Scientific Association.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"page3R_mcid22\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Public health deals with human health issues at a population level. As an applied science, its basic <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">goal is to<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">preserve and improve health and to prevent diseases. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"page3R_mcid22\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">To achieve these goals public health <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">covers several areas of health. Epidemiology (of communicable diseases) deals with infectious <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">diseases, with a special focus on infection control. Traditional public <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">health describes the role of <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">environmental factors in the development of diseases. Occupational medicine aims to maintain the <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">health of employees through the prevention of occupational diseases. Epidemiology as a methodology in public health is essential for all these activities.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"page3R_mcid22\" class=\"markedContent\"><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Healthcare providers of the 21st century <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">should be able to perform indi<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">vidual health promotion techniques and also should be aware of the <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">concept of community health promotion.
