Mission of the Program<\/span><\/h2>\n
The Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship was established by the Hungarian Government for those who live in a Hungarian diaspora outside of the European Union and wish to study at a Hungarian higher education institution to develop their personal, professional and cultural relations to Hungary. The program aims to support the professional advancement of the scholarship holders with high-quality Hungarian higher education while improving their Hungarian language skills and strengthening their Hungarian identity.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Who can apply?<\/span><\/h2>\n
You may have the chance to become a Diaspora Scholarship holder, if<\/p>\n
\n
you are living in a Hungarian diaspora<\/strong>,<\/li>\n
you are a foreign citizen<\/strong> with a foreign address,<\/li>\n
you have been living abroad for at least 10 years in a row<\/strong>,<\/li>\n
you have been doing your secondary education outside Hungary for the past 4 years.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\nThe program is available for the members of a Hungarian diaspora living in any country outside of the European Union, the Republic of Serbia or the Zakarpattia Oblast of Ukraine<\/strong>. How to apply?<\/span><\/h2>\n
If you wish to apply to one of our study programs with Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship, you need to apply through the online application system of Tempus Public Foundation<\/strong> and there you can choose your selected study program at Semmelweis University as your first priority.<\/p>\n

November \u2013 January:<\/strong> Application period. All scholarship applications shall be submitted through the online application system of Tempus Public Foundation<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

February:<\/strong> Technical checks of the application and validation of recommendations.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
\n
March-May:<\/strong> Semmelweis admission procedure. Please find the details of the procedure under the Semmelweis admission page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

June-July:<\/strong> Notification about results.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

Provisions covered by the scholarship:<\/span><\/h2>\n
\n
Tuition-free education:<\/strong> exemption from the payment of tuition fee.<\/li>\n
Monthly stipend<\/strong>\n
\n
Non-degree, bachelor\u2019s, master\u2019s one-tier master\u2019s level:<\/em>
\n<\/strong>HUF 43,700 \/ month<\/li>\n
Doctoral level program:<\/em>
\n<\/strong>HUF 140,000\/month for the first phase of education (4 semesters)
\nHUF 180,000\/month for the second phase of education (4 semesters)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
Accommodation contribution:<\/strong> dormitory placement OR a monthly contribution of HUF 40 000 to accommodation costs for the whole duration of the scholarship period.<\/li>\n
One-off travel allowance<\/strong>
\nOne-occasion travel allowance of HUF 330,000 if the distance between Budapest and the applicant\u2019s place of residence (=city\/town) is 8,000 km or more. The distance is calculated based on the Erasmus + Distance Calculator.<\/a><\/li>\n
Travel contribution:<\/strong> Hungary pass. Reimbursement of a Hungary Pass, which entitles the Scholarship Holder to unlimited travel throughout Hungary (e.g. trains and interurban buses in all counties).<\/li>\n
Medical insurance<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\nRights and Obligations<\/span><\/h2>\n
All scholarship holders are bound by the Operational Regulations of the Hungarian Diaspora Scholarship.<\/span><\/p>\n
