This year, 80 mentors supported over 180 first-year international medical students, helping them navigate the challenges of university life, adapt to a new environment, and build a sense of community from the very beginning of their medical studies.

The program continued to introduce meaningful connections between mentors and mentees, providing academic guidance, practical advice, and peer support throughout the year. The positive feedback received from participants reflected the value of having experienced students to turn to during the transition into university. Many mentees described the program as helpful and enjoyable, with several expressing their interest in becoming mentors themselves in the future.
Participants also shared constructive suggestions, including organizing more group activities, introducing mentors earlier in the semester, increasing regular check-ins, and providing additional opportunities for informal discussions. These valuable ideas will help us further strengthen the program in the years ahead.

This year’s success would not have been possible without the dedication of our mentors, teaching assistants, and staff members. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Sania Zoorbakhsh for her invaluable contributions to the development and growth of the International Mentoring Program.
