{"id":7119,"date":"2024-05-06T17:45:08","date_gmt":"2024-05-06T15:45:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/mental\/?page_id=7119"},"modified":"2024-09-18T16:00:41","modified_gmt":"2024-09-18T14:00:41","slug":"unimatter-reseach","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/mental\/en\/unimatter-reseach\/","title":{"rendered":"UniMatter reseach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>UNIMATTER &#8211; <strong>University Students Matter<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-7090 alignright\" style=\"color: #1e2326;font-family: 'PT serif', serif;font-size: 1rem\" src=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/mental\/files\/2024\/04\/euniwell-logo-300x108.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"197\" height=\"71\" srcset=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/mental\/files\/2024\/04\/euniwell-logo-300x108.png 300w, https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/mental\/files\/2024\/04\/euniwell-logo.png 331w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 197px) 100vw, 197px\" \/><\/span><\/h4>\n<h6><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.euniwell.eu\/what-we-offer\/seed-funding-programme\/projects-of-the-fifth-seed-funding-call\/unimatter-improving-students-well-being-and-academic-success\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EUniWell Seed Funding international university well-being project 2023\/24<\/a><\/strong><\/h6>\n<p>The main objective of the project is a <strong>large-scale student wellbeing survey<\/strong> covering all faculties and year groups of Semmelweis University.<\/p>\n<h3>\u00a0<\/h3>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: right\"><span style=\"color: #ff00ff\">\u21d2 I participate in the <a href=\"https:\/\/emk.semmelweis.hu\/mentalsurvey\/index.php\/283948?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">survey<\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n<div class=\"fontos_div\">\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;font-size: 12pt\"><strong>News<\/strong> 30.08.2024: The questionnaire for the fall semester of 2024 is now OPEN until the end of October 2024. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>DO I MATTER?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"text-align: justify;font-size: 1rem\">The<\/span><strong style=\"text-align: justify;font-size: 1rem\">\u00a0main focus and novelty<\/strong><span style=\"text-align: justify;font-size: 1rem\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"text-align: justify;font-size: 1rem\">of the research is the assessment of<\/span><span style=\"text-align: justify;font-size: 1rem\">\u00a0<\/span><em style=\"text-align: justify;font-size: 1rem\"><strong>perceived mattering<\/strong><\/em><span style=\"text-align: justify;font-size: 1rem\">. This psychosocial characteristic expresses how one feels when subjectively perceiving they are important, seen, and accepted in their relationships. Perceived mattering is an important determinant of psychosocial well-being, positive self-esteem and even academic success. In this project, mattering is assessed in general and in academic contexts, using a questionnaire and focus group interview methods.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The mental state and well-being of students matter. The results of this research will shape a future student support system. Your responses and opinions matter!\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: right\">\u00a0<\/h3>\n<p><strong>HOW AM I WHEN I FEEL WELL?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Main areas of the survey:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>subjective well-being<\/li>\n<li>psychosocial health indicators<\/li>\n<li>perceived mattering<\/li>\n<li>self-esteem and self-efficacy<\/li>\n<li>test anxiety, procrastination<\/li>\n<li>positive feelings in social relationships<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The aim is to assess which psychosocial factors help students achieve higher subjective well-being and better academic performance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><em><strong>Participants in the survey will be entered into a prize draw to win a matching gift: 27 places in various self-awareness sessions. You can indicate your participation in the draw by filling in the questionnaire. The programs will take place in the autumn semester of the 2024\/25 academic year.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><em><strong>2\u00d76 persons &#8211; 2-hour art therapy session (in Hungarian)<\/strong><\/em><\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><em><strong>10 persons &#8211; 4-hour psychodrama-based self-awareness session (in Hungarian)<\/strong><\/em><\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><em><strong>10 persons &#8211; 4-hour experiential self-awareness session (in English)<\/strong><\/em><\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #3366ff\"><em><strong>5 persons &#8211; 3 individual consultations &#8211; individual choice of counseling, psychological counseling, relationship counseling (in Hungarian or English), supervision<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5><strong>The project&#8217;s schedule<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>1. <strong>Online survey: May &#8211; October 2024<\/strong> (target group: entire Semmelweis student community)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><a href=\"https:\/\/emk.semmelweis.hu\/mentalsurvey\/index.php\/527424?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">QUANTITATIVE SURVEY:<\/a> ASSESS WELLBEING AND MATTERING IN A WIDE CIRCLE OF STUDENTS<\/span><\/p>\n<p>2. <strong>Focus group interviews:<\/strong> September<strong>\u00a02024 <\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">(20th of September 1-4pm in Hungarian, <strong>23rd of September 2-5pm in English<\/strong>, 1st of October 5-8pm in either Hungarian or English).\u00a0 Venue: Semmelweis <span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>NET<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">QUALITATIVE RESEARCH:\u00a0 EXPLORE FACTORS THAT CANNOT BE ASCERTAINED THROUGH QUESTIONNAIRES<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 80px\"><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">What is a focus group interview?\u00a0An open, informal, moderated discussion where 6-8 participants share their views on a given topic. In our case, this topic is perceived mattering. The discussions are audio-recorded and the emerging themes are analysed for research purposes. Focus groups are valuable sources in qualitative research.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>3. <strong>Wellbeing and mattering supporting workshop:\u00a0 September-October 2024<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"> Hungarian, 20th of September 9-12am in Hungarian, <strong>27th of September 1-4pm in English<\/strong>, 3rd of October 2-5pm in Hungarian\u00a0 ), venue: Semmelweis NET.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">SUPPORTIVE INTERVENTION: MEASURE OUTCOME EFFECTIVENESS OF SPECIFIC INTERVENTION\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"padding-left: 80px\"><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">What happens at the workshop?\u00a0Mostly conversations, but with interactive training tools to explore what makes students feel well in a community. We aim to have a fun, liberating session supporting self-awareness and self-reflection.<\/span><\/em><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" style=\"padding-left: 80px\"><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">\u00a0In numbers:10-12 students + 2 group facilitators with mental health\/psychology qualifications in 2&#215;90 minutes\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" style=\"text-align: right\"><strong>Apply <a href=\"http:\/\/forms.gle\/RHgEPbFKbRjowVtc7\">here<\/a> for the workshops and interviews:<\/strong><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: right\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<p><strong>4. Data analysis: July-October 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Primary analysis: the aim is to explore with international partners the key primary findings of the research, validate the mattering measurements, assess the overall well-being indicators, and, based on these, identify the key areas for intervention<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Presentation of results: August &#8211; September 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Presentation of primary analysis: during the Semmelweis Summer University, we will present the first results to stakeholders. We will then also start to provide short, easy-to-understand information on the website.<\/p>\n<p><strong>6. Second phase of the project: from September 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The project aims to build on this knowledge and design a supporting wellbeing system for Semmelweis students.
