We reviewed and evaluated the evidence-based strategies in suicide prevention and made recommendations for actions and for further scientific research. It was cited independently 304 times within two years. The invitation for contribution to this paper as an expert was an important recognition of my previous – although less influential – research ont he field. My main contribution in the paper was the review and evalulation of the psychoterapies’ in suicide prevention. The paper was cited in the most influential journals of psychiatry and pychotherapy (JAMA Psychiatry, Am J of Psychiatry, British J of Psychiatry). The main conclusions of the paper has become basic principles of suicide prevention strategies worldwide. Some authors (including me) was invited to contribute to the development of WHO-based suicide prevention toolkits.

György Purebl MD, PhD, Director of Institute Institute of Behavioural Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Semmelweis University Education: 1982-1986 I.
