ANNOUNCEMENT Senior Medical Student Program in the USA<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The State University of New York, School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at BUFFALO and The State University of New York, Upstate Medical University at SYRACUSE entered into an agreement with the four Hungarian universities that teach medicine to provide 12 week credit- bearing senior electives to medical students who are in their 5th year of education.<\/p>\n<p>The rotations begin in July and October 2012 and January and April 2013.<\/p>\n<p>This program is sponsored and managed by the <strong>HUNGARIAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA, HMAA (www.hmaa.org.)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the Program is to facilitate the exchange of students as well as experience and knowledge between the involved medical universities. With this program the HMAA contributes and provides broad medical knowledge<\/p>\n<p><strong>to young Hungarian physicians who are entering the Hungarian health care system.<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Students may take the following electives<\/strong>: Internal Medicine \u2013 Endocrinology; Internal Medicine in hospital; Pediatrics \u2013 Child Neurology; Neurosurgery; Neurology; Emergency Care; Surgical Oncology; Medical Oncology; Neuroradiology.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that these electives are subject to availability at the time of the rotation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Financing:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students are expected to cover:<strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Round trip air      transportation<\/li>\n<li>Cost of books, materials if      required<\/li>\n<li>Health insurance<\/li>\n<li>Meal costs (some Buffalo      departments provide meal tickets for use in the<br \/>\nhospital)<\/li>\n<li>Medical liability      (coordinated by HMAA)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Student housing is provided by the HMAA in Buffalo. Please note that max. 4 students may participate at one particular rotation. Once you have given us your preferred rotation time (eg. January 2013) there is a limited possibility to change it later. All possible changes of rotation times are coordinated by Semmelweis University.<\/p>\n<p>Selected applicants are encouraged to submit an application for financial support to the HAESF.<\/p>\n<p>(Hungarian American Enterprize Scholarship Fund). The deadline for applications for the July and October \u00a02012 rotations is 1 April 2012 and for the January and April 2013 rotations 15 October 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Students who receive a scholarship from HAESF are expected to pay USD 150 a month each to offset some of the costs. The malpractice insurance for 3 months is appr. The timing of the TOEFL exam should be so that the results arrive before 11 Januar 2012, which is the application deadline.<\/p>\n<p>The TOEFL exam should not be older than 2
