ANNOUNCEMENT<\/div>\n
Senior Medical Student Program in the USA<\/span><\/div>\n

The State University of New York, School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at BUFFALO and The State University of New York, Upstate Medical University at SYRACUSE entered into an agreement with the four Hungarian universities that educate medicine to provide 3 month credit- bearing senior electives to medical students who are in their 5th year of education.<\/p>\n

The rotations begin in July and October, 2010 and January and April, 2011.<\/p>\n

This program is sponsored and managed by the HUNGARIAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA, HMAA (www.hmaa.org.)<\/p>\n

The purpose of the Program is to facilitate the exchange of students, experience and knowledge between the involved medical universities. With this program the HMAA contributes and provides broad medical knowledge to young Hungarian physicians who are entering the Hungarian Health Care System.<\/p>\n

Students may take the following electives:<\/span> Internal Medicine \u2013 Endocrinology, Internal Medicine in hospital, Pediatrics \u2013 Child Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neurology, Emergency Care, Surgical Oncology, Medical Oncology, Neuroradiology<\/p>\n

Please note that these electives are subject to availability at the the time of the rotation.<\/p>\n

Financing<\/span>:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Round trip air transportation<\/li>\n
  • Cost of books, materials if required<\/li>\n
  • Health insurance<\/li>\n
  • Meal costs (some Buffalo departments provide meal tickets for use in the\u2028hospital)<\/li>\n
  • Medical liability (coordinated by HMAA)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Student housing is provided by the HMAA in Buffalo.
    \nSelected applicants are encouraged to submit an application for financial support to the HAESF.
    \n(Hungarian American Enterprize Scholarship Fund)
    \nStudents who receive a scholarship from HAESF are expected to pay USD 150 a month each to offset some of the costs. The malpractice insurance for 3 months is appr. USD 300-400.<\/p>\n

    Who can apply?<\/p>\n

    Hungarian medical students who are in their 5th year of education beginning September 2009.
    \nDeadline:<\/span> applications must be postmarked by January 15, 2010.<\/p>\n

    Requirements (written in 2 copies):<\/p>\n

    • Completed Application Form<\/li>\n
    • Letter of recommendation from the Dean<\/li>\n
    • Letter of recommendation from two different department chairmen<\/li>\n
    • Copy of index from year 1 onwards and statement of the medical student status<\/li>\n
    • Curriculum vitae<\/li>\n
    • Letter of motivation\/intent<\/li>\n
    • TOEFL exam<\/li>\n
    • Passport size photo<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Please note that the TOEFL exam procedure might take several months.
      \nThe application must be complete, otherwise it will be automatically rejected.<\/p>\n
