ANNOUNCEMENT<\/span>
\nSenior Medical Student Program in the USA<\/span><\/p>\n
The State University of New York, School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at BUFFALO and The State University of New York, Upstate Medical University at SYRACUSE entered into an agreement with the four Hungarian universities that educate medicine to provide 3 month credit- bearing senior electives to medical students who are in their 5th year of education.<\/p>\n

The rotations begin in July and October, 2009 and January and April, 2010.<\/p>\n

This program is sponsored and managed by the HUNGARIAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA (HMAA) (www.hmaa.org.)<\/span><\/p>\n

The purpose of the Program is to facilitate the exchange of students, experience and knowledge between the involved Medical Universities. With this program the HMAA contributes and provides broad medical knowledge to young Hungarian physicians who are entering the Hungarian Health Care System.<\/p>\n

Students may take the following electives:<\/span> Internal Medicine – Endocrinology, Internal Medicine in hospital, Pediatrics \u2013 Child Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neurology, Emergency Care, Surgical Oncology, Medical Oncology, Neuroradiology<\/p>\n

Please note that these electives are subject to availability at the the time of the rotation.<\/p>\n

Students are expected to provide:
\n–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Round trip air transportation
\n–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Cost of books, materials if required
\n–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Health insurance
\n–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Meal costs (some Buffalo departments provide meal tickets for use in the
\nhospital)
\n–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Medical liability (coordinated by HMAA)<\/p>\n

Student housing is provided by the HMAA in Buffalo. Students who receive a scholarship from HAESF (Hungarian American Enterprize Scholarship Fund) expected to pay USD 150 a month each to offset some of the costs. The malpractice insurance for 3 months is appr. USD 300-400.<\/p>\n

Who can apply?<\/span>
\nHungarian medical students who are in their 5th year of education beginning September 2008.
\nDeadline: applications must be postmarked by January 15, 2009.<\/p>\n

Requirements (written in 2 copies):<\/span>

\n–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Letter of recommendation from the Dean
\n–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Letter of recommendation from two different department chairmen
\n–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Copy of index from year 1 onwards and statement of the medical student status
\n–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Curriculum vitae
\n–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Letter of motivation\/intent
\n–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 TOEFL exam, passport size photo<\/p>\n

Please note that the TOEFL exam procedure might take several months.
\nThe application must be complete, otherwise it will be automatically rejected.<\/p>\n
