\nANNOUNCEMENT
\nSenior Medical Student Program in the USA
\nThe State University of New York, School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at BUFFALO (SUNYAB) and The State University of New York, Upstate Medical University at SYRACUSE entered into an agreement with the four Hungarian universities that teach medicine to provide 12 week credit- bearing senior electives to medical students who are in their 5th year of education.
\nThe rotations begin in July and October 2013 and January and April 2014.<\/p>\n
This program is sponsored and managed by the HUNGARIAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA, HMAA (www.hmaa.org.)<\/p>\n
The purpose of the Program is to facilitate the exchange of students as well as experience and knowledge between the involved medical universities. With this program the HMAA contributes and provides broad medical knowledge
\nto young Hungarian physicians who are entering the Hungarian health care system.<\/p>\n
Students may take the following electives: Internal Medicine \u2013 Endocrinology; Hospitalist; Pediatrics \u2013 Child Neurology; Neurosurgery; Neurology; Surgical Oncology; Medical Oncology; Neuroradiology\/Radiology; Dermatology; Gyn-Oncology; Psychiatry
\nPlease note that these electives are subject to availability at the time of the rotation.
\nFinancing:
\nStudents are expected to cover:
\n\u2022\tRound trip air transportation
\n\u2022\tCost of books, materials if required
\n\u2022\tHealth insurance
\n\u2022\tMeal costs (some Buffalo departments provide meal tickets for use in the
\nhospital)
\n\u2022\tMedical liability (coordinated by HMAA)
\nStudent housing is provided by the HMAA in Buffalo. Please note that max. 4 students may participate at one particular rotation. Once you have given us your preferred rotation time (eg. January 2014) there is a limited possibility to change it later. All possible changes of rotation times are coordinated by Semmelweis University.
\nSelected applicants are encouraged to submit an application for financial support to the HAESF.
\n(Hungarian American Enterprize Scholarship Fund). The deadline for applications for the July and October 2013 rotations is 1 April 2013 and for the January and April 2014 rotations 15 October 2013.
\nStudents who receive a scholarship from HAESF are expected to pay USD 150 a month each to offset some of the costs. The malpractice insurance for 3 months is appr. USD 300-400.

\nHungarian medical students who are in their 5th year of education beginning September 2012.
\nDeadline: applications must be postmarked by January 9, 2013.<\/p>\n

\n\u2022\tTOEFL exam
\n\u2022\t1 Passport size photo
\nPlease note that the TOEFL exam procedure might take several months. The timing of the TOEFL exam should be so that the results arrive before 9 Januar 2013, which is the application deadline.
\nThe TOEFL exam should not be older than 2 years.<\/p>\n
The application must be complete, otherwise it will be automatically rejected.
