She is a pharmaceutical biotechnologist and graduated from Bologna University. Simona is currently doing her PhD at IDiBE (Miguel Hern\u00e1ndez University) under the supervision of Professors Antonio Ferrer and Asia Fern\u00e1ndez in the Sensory Neurobiology group. The goal of her PhD is to obtain an <i data-stringify-type=\"italic\">in-vitro<\/i> model of human sensory neurons through direct conversion from fibroblasts, in order to study pathologies such as migraine, chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy and other conditions that affect the somatosensory system.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-399 aligncenter\" style=\"font-size: 1rem\" src=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/hcemm-neurobiology\/files\/2022\/02\/image-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"171\" height=\"196\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Simona is spending a 3 months internship in our group to learn direct neuronal conversion and lentiviral production.
