Dear Students,<\/p>\n

The vascular surgery practical course begins on Monday at 8:30 a.m. If a public holiday falls on this day, it will naturally start on the first working day of the week. Gathering takes place at the student changing room of the V\u00e1rosmajor Heart and Vascular Center (1122 Budapest, Ga\u00e1l J\u00f3zsef utca 9\u201311.). A short briefing will be held here.<\/p>\n

The documents required for the practical course can be downloaded from here<\/a>. You must fill out the student contract with your personal data and sign it where indicated. The contract includes the attendance certification table, where your daily tutor confirms your presence with a signature. The fully completed and signed contract must be submitted on the last day of the practice, on Friday, at the exam. Please note that we can ONLY certify completion of the practice in NEPTUN if all documents are fully completed and signed, following the successful completion of the partial exam written on Friday.<\/p>\n

We can provide a lab coat, but you may also use your own.<\/p>\n

\n\u2013 ultrasound

\n\u2013 angiography lab<\/p>\n

To ensure balanced use of the training sites, we will prepare a weekly schedule, which will be sent in advance via Neptun message. In certain cases, deviations from the schedule are possible or necessary; group exchanges are allowed in justified cases and after prior consultation with the educational secretariat (study.erseb@gmail.com<\/a>), or if they are unavailable, with the academic coordinator (mihaly.zsuzsanna@semmelweis.hu<\/a>). Naturally, all students must attend all locations during the week.<\/p>\n

A map<\/a> attached to the schedule will help with orientation.<\/p>\n

Among the locations, the outpatient clinic involves direct patient contact. The aim is to learn about symptoms and complaints, perform patient examinations, and become familiar with various pathological findings.<\/p>\n

In the operating room, students can gain a general understanding of the anatomical conditions in which reconstructions are performed, what a blood vessel looks like \u201cin real life,\u201d what vascular suturing is like, what types of grafts are used, what an endarterectomy is, and what a calcified plaque looks like.<\/p>\n

In the angiography lab, students will be introduced to the basics of one of the most important imaging diagnostics methods: the advantages and disadvantages of DSA compared to other imaging modalities, the equipment required for the procedure, endovascular interventions performed, and possible complications.<\/p>\n

Ultrasound is one of the most important non-invasive examinations, which, in experienced hands, can provide decisive information about most vessels for therapeutic or further diagnostic decisions. A radiologist colleague will assist in teaching these skills.<\/p>\n

In the skills lab, students will have the opportunity to practice vascular suturing and the use of instruments seen in the operating room, to perform ultrasound-guided Seldinger technique learned in the angiography lab and operating room, as well as to perform radial puncture on a realistic model, following a short introduction, under the guidance of a vascular surgery specialist and an assisting demonstrator.<\/p>\n

Every student must have their form signed daily by the instructor responsible for that day.<\/p>\n

The practical sessions start at 8:00 in the operating room, and at 8:30 in the angiography lab and ultrasound sessions. The start time for the skills lab and outpatient clinic is specified in the schedule.<\/p>\n

If any student is absent on any day, the absence must be made up in consultation with the educational secretariat (study.erseb@gmail.com<\/a>), or if they are unavailable, with the academic coordinator (mihaly.zsuzsanna@semmelweis.hu<\/a>).<\/p>\n

On the last day of the course, after completing the assigned daily rotation, students must take a partial exam, which counts toward the final grade of the surgical exam.<\/p>\n

The minimum requirement for completing the vascular surgery practical course and the elective clinical practice is knowledge of the content of the \u201cVascular Medicine\u201d notes; the assessment is also based on this material.<\/p>\n
