On 6 October 2010, a four-member delegation from Taiwain\u2019s Taipei Medical University (TMU) headed by President Wen-Ta Chiu visited Semmelweis University in order to sign a Memorandum of Agreement for cooperation between the two institutions. The delegation also included International Dean Peter Chang and Mr. Jung-Chin Lin, CEO of the Taiwan Tung-Yang Biopharm pharmaceutical company.<\/p>\n

As a special honour, Dr. Tzay-Jinn Chen, Deputy Minister of Taiwan\u2019s Ministry of Health and his delegation, as well as Ms. Marietta Kao Liau, Head of the Taipei Representative Office in Budapest, attended the meeting and signing ceremony as observers.<\/p>\n

The delegation was received by Vice-Rector for Education and International Affairs Mikl\u00f3s Kellermayer, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Zolt\u00e1n Zsolt Nagy and Director of International Relations Gyula S\u00fcmeghy.<\/p>\n

After the official discussions, the guests had the opportunity to meet some of the Taiwanese students currently studying at Semmelweis University.<\/p>\n

The TMU delegation\u2019s visit to Semmelweis University concluded with a tour of the 1st Department of Pathology and Experimental Cancer Research by Director Andr\u00e1s Matolcsy.<\/p>\n

The newly signed Agreement, which is the culmination of months of hard work and discussions on both sides, opens the door to future collaboration and exchange programmes between the two universities in education, research and health care.<\/p>\n
