Dr. P\u00e9ter Gy\u00f6rk\u00f6s, Hungarian ambassador in Berlin visited Semmelweis University\u2019s campus in Hamburg during his official visit. His Excellency was received by the leaders of the institution; Dr. Thomas Wolfram, newly appointed managing director of the Asklepios Clinics GmbH, Dr. Christoph Jermann, managing director of Asklepios Campus Hamburg and Dr. Karl-J. Oldhafer, Commissioner of the dean.<\/p>\n

\"Besuch_Ung.Botschafter-17-von-43_2-K\"Dr. P\u00e9ter Gy\u00f6rk\u00f6s talked about the support that Hungary and the Hungarian embassy in Berlin had for this outstanding educational cooperation between Hungary and Germany.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe past eight years prove that Semmelweis University\u2019s unique educational model is an efficiently operating system, as 2016 is the 5th<\/sup> year when graduates will have successfully finished their studies within the framework of the off-campus programme. I am pleased to continue my predecessors\u2019 tradition of hosting the graduation ceremony in Berlin at the Hungarian Embassy.\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

Dr. Thomas Wolfram, managing director of Asklepios Clinics GmbH expressed the company\u2019s satisfaction regarding the joint project realised together with Semmelweis University.<\/p>\n

\u201cAsklepios Clinics GmbH and Semmelweis University both consider quality and innovation of outmost importance, which are well represented by this joint project. During the past year the German Scientific Committee also provided a positive feedback regarding the cooperation.\u201d, he said. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Within the framework of the project connecting the two countries, Semmelweis University and the German private institution run a joint programme, which is considered to be a unique achievement in Europe. According to the cooperation agreement between Semmelweis University and the Asklepios Clinical Team students participating in Semmelweis University\u2019s German language programme at the Faculty of Medicine have the opportunity to do their clinical practice in Hamburg after having completed the theoretical part of the education.<\/p>\n

\"Besuch_Ung.Botschafter-22-von-43-K\"Currently there are 180 students enrolled in Semmelweis University\u2019s programme at the campus in Hamburg. About 350 doctors, including 50 professors from the seven Asklepios Clinics are involved in education during the students\u2019 four-years-long clinical training. The programme is strictly based on the schedule of Semmelweis University. Graduating students receive a medical degree that is accredited in Hungary and is accepted in Germany and also in Europe.<\/p>\n

Asklepios Clinics GmbH was launched as a family venture thirty years ago with Hamburg as the seat. Since then it has become one of the three largest private hospital networks in Germany. Asklepios Clinics GmbH currently has 150 institutions in Germany with 46\u00a0000 employees, who take care of 2.3 million patients every year.<\/p>\n
