The American \u201cBudapest Semester in Cognitive Science\u201d (BSCS) programme enabled students from the United States, Austria, Sweden and Ukraine to participate in the summer study programme organized by the Department of Anatomy, Histology and Embryology. The two-month-long course, \u201cSysNeuro\u201d was awarded by a certificate which was handed over by Dr. G\u00e1bor Gerber, Head of the Department and by Dr. P\u00e9ter \u00c9rdi, brain researcher living in the United States.\"RS33702_TZ_20150807_140-scr\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Before handing out the certificates, Dr. G\u00e1bor Gerber said that the success of the course is reflected by the outstanding results of the exams taken at the end of each week. In his speech he also mentioned Semmelweis University\u2019s substantial traditions, its distinguished professors and their achievements. Dr. P\u00e9ter \u00c9rdi, former researcher of the department and currently the professor of\u00a0 Kalamazoo College in Michigan expressed his hope that the students who have successfully completed this course will return to Semmelweis University if they choose to pursue medical studies after their undergraduate courses. He assured them that the certificate issued in the name of the Department of Anatomy, Histology and Embryology warrants a thorough knowledge.<\/p>\n

\"IMG_0944\"<\/a>During the course, the students could get an insight into the molecular background of neurosciences, the latest experimental technologies and the role of informatics in neurosciences. Besides the academic activities they could participate in Hungarian language classes, and take part in cultural programmes including visits to museums and sightseeing tours. The programme of the course consisted of seminars in the mornings from Mondays to Thursdays which were held by the teachers of the department, its associate departments and renowned Hungarian professors and researchers. The study programme offered classes in different subjects every week and the individual subjects were concluded by an exam taken by the students every Friday.<\/p>\n
