The delegation of the Chinese Third Military Medical University (TMMU) visited Semmelweis University on the invitation of Rector \u00c1goston Sz\u00e9l. The meeting aimed at continuing negotiations started in 2013 and identifying possible areas of cooperation.<\/p>\n

\"RS33264_KA-20150713-IMG_7128-scr\"<\/a>Rector \u00c1goston Sz\u00e9l outlined the structure of Hungarian medical education and pointed out that the most efficient way of collaboration between the two institutions could be through joint research, therefore Semmelweis University\u2019s main areas of research were introduced by Dr. Gy\u00f6rgy Bagdy, acting Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs. Dr. Luo Changkun, President of the Chinese institution presented TMMU\u2019s most prominent fields of expertise which are traumatology, plastic surgery, orthopaedics, cardiology and pulmonology.\"RS33278_KA-20150713-IMG_7079-scr\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The two universities identified different ways of cooperation which include a short term student exchange programme for undergraduate students, a joint programme in nursing on undergraduate and graduate level and a possible collaboration between the two universities\u2019 doctoral schools.<\/p>\n

Dr. \u00c1goston Sz\u00e9l said that Semmelweis University is willing to enter into a partnership with the Third Military Medical University and asked Dr. Judit M\u00e9sz\u00e1ros, former Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences to act as the contact person on behalf of Semmelweis University. At the same time, the leaders of the Chinese university suggested that the two institutions should sign a Memorandum of Understanding in October 2015 to formalize the partnership.<\/p>\n

The delegation was received by Dr. \u00c1goston Sz\u00e9l, Rector, Dr. Gy\u00f6rgy Bagdy, acting Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs, Dr. K\u00e1roly R\u00e1cz, President of the Doctoral School, Dr. Judit M\u00e9sz\u00e1ros, former Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Dr. Marcel Pop, Director of Interantional Relations.\"RS33263_KA-20150713-IMG_7135-scr\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Following the meeting the Chinese delegation was introduced to different departments and institutions of Semmelweis University. The 1st Department of Pathology and Experimental Cancer Research was presented by Dr. Andr\u00e1s Matolcsy who emphasized the department\u2019s state-of-the-art digital technology. The delegation also visited the Second Department of Internal Medicine under the leadership of Dr. K\u00e1roly R\u00e1cz and got acquainted with the research activities of the Basic Medical Science Centre with the help of Dr. Andr\u00e1s Kaposi.<\/p>\n
