At Semmelweis University\u2019s Kerpel-Fronius \u00d6d\u00f6n Talent Programme event the Kerpel and the Mentor of Excellence awards were handed out.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2014\/12\/RS26054_KA-20141208-IMG_0432-kutat\u00f3i-szalon-scr.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-5429\" src=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2014\/12\/RS26054_KA-20141208-IMG_0432-kutat\u00f3i-szalon-scr-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"RS26054_KA-20141208-IMG_0432-kutat\u00f3i-szalon-scr\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2014\/12\/RS26054_KA-20141208-IMG_0432-kutat\u00f3i-szalon-scr-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2014\/12\/RS26054_KA-20141208-IMG_0432-kutat\u00f3i-szalon-scr-450x300.jpg 450w, https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2014\/12\/RS26054_KA-20141208-IMG_0432-kutat\u00f3i-szalon-scr.jpg 950w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>In his opening speech Dr. J\u00f3zsef T\u00edm\u00e1r, Vice-Rector for General and Educational Affairs emphasized Semmelweis University\u2019s responsibility in health education. More than half of Hungary\u2019s doctors and healthcare specialists are trained here and the institution needs to take care of nurturing talents as well. \u201cThe activity of the Scientific Students\u2019 Association has been one of the most prominent achievements in providing a continuous supply of educators. Semmelweis University pioneered in starting the programme and making it widespread all around Hungary.\u201d, he said. He added that international acknowledgement and job opportunities were accessible and open to the best researchers and doctors, but it was also important that they made Hungary benefit from their knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Gy\u00f6rgy Fekete, the President of the Kerpel-Fronius \u00d6d\u00f6n Talent Programme Committee announced that young talents, whose up-to-date methods and outstanding results add to the good reputation of the university, were going to present their academic achievements. \u201cWe would also like to thank the mentors for their work in making this programme acknowledged and used well beyond the confines of the university\u201d, he emphasized.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Attila Szab\u00f3, the Secretary of the Kerpel-Fronius \u00d6d\u00f6n Talent Programme said that the event revolved around science and culture. He also mentioned that the Astellas Young Investigators Awards would be handed out for the third time.<\/p>\n<p>The first to present their academic results were the winners of last year\u2019s Astellas Young Investigators Awards who are also the members of the Kerpel-Fronius \u00d6d\u00f6n Talent Programme. Dr. Edit Gara, PhD student spoke about vasculogenesis, Dr. Enik\u0151 L\u00e1z\u00e1r, PhD student presented her study on the structure and function of human peroxidasin and Dalma Kellermayer, fifth year student of the Faculty of Medicine gave an account of the cardiac effects of physical activities.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2014\/12\/RS26040_KA-20141208-IMG_0479-kutat\u00f3i-szalon-scr.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-5428\" src=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2014\/12\/RS26040_KA-20141208-IMG_0479-kutat\u00f3i-szalon-scr-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"RS26040_KA-20141208-IMG_0479-kutat\u00f3i-szalon-scr\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2014\/12\/RS26040_KA-20141208-IMG_0479-kutat\u00f3i-szalon-scr-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2014\/12\/RS26040_KA-20141208-IMG_0479-kutat\u00f3i-szalon-scr-450x300.jpg 450w, https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2014\/12\/RS26040_KA-20141208-IMG_0479-kutat\u00f3i-szalon-scr.jpg 950w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Eszter Trojn\u00e1r, Dr. Zsuzsanna Zotter and Dr. Bal\u00e1zs Odler were given the 2014 Astellas Young Investigators Awards by Dr. Gy\u00f6rgy Markovich, director of Astellas Pharma Ltd., Dr. J\u00f3zsef T\u00edm\u00e1r and Dr. Gy\u00f6rgy Fekete. In his speech Dr. Gy\u00f6rgy Markovich remarked that he had taken part in the work of the Scientific Students\u2019 Research at Semmelweis University more than forty years before, which had given him a lot of inspiration.<br \/>\nThe Kerpel Award was given to Dr. Tivadar Tulassay, Rector Emeritus who took an important part in launching of the programme. The Mentor of Excellence award was granted to Dr. Veronika M\u00fcller, deputy director of the Department of Pulmonology and Dr. Edit Gara and Dr. Attila Marosi PhD students were given the Kerpel Student Award.<\/p>\n<p>Two students of paramedics gave an overall view on the results of their research done under the patronage of the Kerpel Programme.
