At the event, Dr. G\u00e1bor Gerber, Dean of Semmelweis Universitys Faculty of Dentistry, gave a presentation. The event in Nicosia was hosted by the Embassy of Hungary in Cyprus.<\/div>\n

The Directorate of International Relations and Alumni Affairs organized an alumni meeting in Nicosia, Cyprus, for international graduates of Semmelweis University. The event was preceded by an invitation last year, when the Hungarian delegation visited the University of Cyprus and watched Lajos Koltai’s film Semmelweis<\/em> together with the participants.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s event took place in mid-November, again organized by the Directorate of International Relations and Alumni Affairs, with the aim of providing an opportunity for Semmelweis graduates living abroad to meet, network and reconnect. The Embassy of Hungary in Cyprus hosted the guests on the rooftop terrace of the Embassy. The Hungarian delegation included Dr. G\u00e1bor Gerber, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at Semmelweis University; Dr. Tam\u00e1s Heged\u00fcs, Head of the Directorate of International Relations and Alumni Affairs; and \u00c9va Cz\u00e9km\u00e1n, international expert.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The event was opened by Dr. Krisztina Lakos, Hungary\u2019s Ambassador to Cyprus, and \u00c1gnes Angyal, Deputy Head of Mission. Among the distinguished guests was Professor Stavros Malas, Cypriot geneticist, former presidential candidate, former Minister of Health, and President of the Cyprus Institute. Following the ambassador\u2019s greeting, children from the local Hungarian community performed Hungarian folk songs, poems, and traditional dances.<\/p>\n

After the performance, Dean Dr. G\u00e1bor Gerber welcomed the university\u2019s graduates, colleagues and attendees. The approximately seventy guests then had the opportunity to learn about the history, mission, developments, goals and international partnerships of Semmelweis University\u2019s namesake through the dean\u2019s lecture.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Following the presentation, networking, reminiscing, and the exchange of professional experiences came to the forefront among the alumni participants. The closing reception also provided space for informal conversations, where guests could enjoy traditional Hungarian snacks and Cypriot refreshments.<\/p>\n

The event once again highlighted the important role that alumni living abroad and international relations play in the life of Semmelweis University. Such meetings not only strengthen personal connections but also contribute to building a cohesive and internationally active alumni community\u2014one that continues to enhance the university\u2019s global presence and reputation through its knowledge, experience, and dedication.<\/p>\n
