Journalists based in Europe are invited to submit their stories on women\u2019s health, pharmaceutical strategies and innovation.\u00a0<\/div>\n

T<\/strong>he final deadline for entries has been extended until midnight on Monday, <\/strong>April 14th<\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Celebrating the invaluable role of journalists in educating the public and informing audiences across Europe, the Semmelweis-Richter Journalism Award For Excellence in Women’s Health and Pharma Industry Reporting<\/em> is open for submissions. The award aims to recognize the profound impact journalists have on healthcare and the well-being of communities worldwide.<\/p>\n

Journalists are invited to submit their stories on women\u2019s health and pharmaceutical strategies and innovation published between January 1st<\/sup> 2024 and February 28th<\/sup> 2025<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

These may include stories that help raise awareness, are about certain stigmatized diseases within society, cultivate open social discourse, and\/or ultimately lead to improved treatment and understanding.<\/p>\n

Submission Requirements<\/strong>:<\/h4>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 – Participants can submit up to two entries, each in a separate category.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 – All entries must have been published between January 1st<\/sup> 2024 and February 28th<\/sup> 2025<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 – Entries must consist of a scanned version of the article for print publications, or a publicly accessible link leading to the article in case of online publication, or a screenshot in case of paid online content.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 – Entries must be in English or translated into English. (For languages other than English, the original must be enclosed as well).<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 – Entries must be submitted electronically through our website: https:\/\/semmelweisrichteraward.com\/\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

Prizes:<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The award fund is \u20ac45,000. Prizes for the categories are as follows: \u20ac10,000 (first place), \u20ac7,500 (second place), and \u20ac5,000 (third place). All six winners will be awarded an all-expenses paid trip to attend the closing ceremony at Semmelweis University Campus, in Budapest, Hungary, in the May-June, 2025.<\/p>\n

The panel of judges comprising industry leads and delegates from independent media organizations will assess publications based on quality of reporting, investigative depth, impact and significance, originality and clear communication.<\/p>\n

Winners will be announced on the third week of May, 2025.<\/p>\n

The extended deadline for entries is April 14th<\/sup> 2025 at 23:59 (CET).<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/em><\/strong>Lars Boering<\/h5>\n

\u00a0director of the <\/em>\u00a0European Journalism Centre<\/a>, a non-profit dedicated to supporting and advancing journalism across Europe.<\/em><\/p>\n

With a background in journalism, photography, and art, he has held leadership roles at the Amsterdam Art Foundation, the Dutch Photographers\u2019 Association, and the World Press Photo Foundation, which he expanded into a global platform for visual storytelling. He has taught at academies throughout the world and is an experienced keynote speaker and advisor to festivals and institutions. He is also a passionate educator who believes lifelong learning is a necessity and a joy.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/em><\/strong>Prof. Nandor Acs<\/h5>\n

M.D., Ph.D., Head of the Ob\/Gyn Department at Semmelweis University, President of the Hungarian Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists<\/em><\/p>\n

Prof. \u00c1cs is a board-certified Ob\/Gyn specialist with additional qualifications in general surgery, pediatric gynecology, and clinical pharmacology. A graduate of Semmelweis University, he is full professor and Head of the Ob\/Gyn Department of the Faculty of Medicine at Semmelweis University, as well as President of the Hungarian Society of Obstetricians and Gyneacologists. Prof. Acs also holds a Ph.D. degree and an MBA in health economics. He has organized several national and international congresses and teaching courses and has published over 470 papers with around 2500 citations and is a member of several eminent medical societies and organizations.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Rosella E. Nappi,<\/h5>\n

MD, PhD, Gynecologist, Endocrinologist, Sexologist, Chief of the Research Center for Reproductive Medicine and Gynecological Endocrinology-Menopause Unit, IRCCS San Matteo Foundation, University of Pavia (Italy) <\/em><\/p>\n

Dr Nappi is an internationally recognized expert in psychoneuroendocrinology, with a focus on women\u2019s sexual health throughout the reproductive and post-reproductive years. She has published around 450 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals and international books with around 26500 citations (HF Google Scholar 87). A frequent speaker at global conferences on women\u2019s health. A former president of International Society for the Study of Women Sexual Health (ISSWSH), she currently serves on the advisory boards the International Society of Gynecological Endocrinology (ISGE) and of the International Academy of Human Reproduction (IAHR) and is President of the International Menopause Society (IMS). Her work spans research, education, and leadership in contraception, menopause, and female sexual dysfunction.<\/p>\n

Prof Dr E. Szilveszter Vizi<\/h5>\n

Medical doctor, academician, Chairman of Gedeon Richter’s Board of Directors.<\/em><\/p>\n

Graduated from Semmelweis University of Medicine. He is an internationally recognized leader in pharmacology and neuroscience who has received several awards and prizes. He was a Riker Fellow at the Department of Pharmacology of the University of Oxford from 1967 to 1969, where he worked alongside Sir William Paton. From 1989 to 2002 Director of the Institute of Experimental Medicine (IEM) of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences between 2002 and 2008. He was visiting professor at the universities of Mainz and Parma. He also taught at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University (Montefiore Medical Center) as a visiting professor since 1984. Currently a researcher at the IEM.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/em><\/strong>G\u00e1bor Orb\u00e1n<\/h5>\n

Chief Executive Officer of Gedeon Richter <\/em><\/p>\n

Mr Orb\u00e1n began his professional career as an economist for the National Bank of Hungary and the European Central Bank. He later joined Aegon Asset Management where he worked as a fund manager and the head of the fixed income desk. He served as the state secretary in charge of taxation and the financial sector at the Ministry for National Economy for two and a half years, followed by a year spent at Banque Rothschild where he worked as a consultant. He earned his MA degree at the Budapest University of Economics and studied also in the United States. Richter’s Director of Corporate Strategy since September 2016, Chief Operating Officer since 2017. Member of the Company’s Board of Directors from April 2017.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/em><\/strong>B\u00e9la Merkely<\/h5>\n

MD, PhD, Hungarian interventional cardiologist and sport cardiologist,
\n<\/em>Rector of Semmelweis University, Chairman and Director of Semmelweis University\u2019s Heart and Vascular Centre <\/em><\/p>\n

Professor Merkely has been the Rector of Semmelweis University since 2018 and Chairman and Director of Semmelweis University\u2019s Heart and Vascular Centre since 2007. He focuses on non-pharmacological heart failure treatment, interventional cardiology techniques, cardiac imaging, arrhythmias, acute coronary syndromes, and sports cardiology, including elite athlete heart remodeling. He pioneered and advanced several minimally invasive, endovascular, catheter-based interventions. Under his leadership, the V\u00e1rosmajor Heart and Vascular Centre became internationally recognized and a leading training center. He is a member of nearly all major national and international scientific societies related to cardiology, arythmias and pacemakers, interventional cardiology, circulatory research. He has authored 1088 international publications \u00a0with more than 51,900 citations and an impact factor of \u00a07800 indexed in major bibliometric databases.<\/span><\/p>\n
