In the framework of the Pannonia Scholarship Programme, applications are continuously open for up to one-month study trips and up to five-month research grants, whereas other types of mobility programs are subject to a deadline. The university’s management strongly encourages all students to spend some time abroad and to return home with international experience, which will often open up new perspectives. The Pann\u00f3nia Scholarship Programme also offers study, research, and teaching mobility opportunities for teachers and staff, including conference attendance, just like in the case of students.<\/div>\n

“Thanks to the Pann\u00f3nia Scholarship Programme<\/a>, which offers both short and long-term mobility opportunities, students can benefit from study mobility programs of up to 12 months. These had previously been offered by Erasmus+, but now, the choice has become much wider. Destinations may include not only Europe but also almost any country worldwide, with short-term mobility programs ranging from two days to one month. Novelties include research mobility of 2-30 days or 2-5 months, conference attendance, and presentations,” emphasized Dr. P\u00e9ter Hermann, Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Applications are constantly open for short-term and research mobility for students; for study, research, and teaching mobility for staff; as well as for conference attendance for both groups. Some mobility opportunities, however, have a deadline for application and require prior online registration.<\/p>\n

Since the launch of the Pann\u00f3nia Scholarship Programme, Semmelweis University has signed 181 mobility contracts (107 for students and 74 for staff); however, the budget makes it possible to increase the number of participants.<\/p>\n

The university’s International Mobility Office<\/a> can also offer information and personalized advice via pannonia@semmelweis.hu or in person during office hours at the Student Center (Di\u00e1kCentrum) on the 1st floor of the Nagyv\u00e1rad Square Theoretical Block (NET).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As suggested by the rector, the short-term Pann\u00f3nia mobility programs, available from June 1, 2024, could be used to cover part of the summer internship or sixth-year placement. As regards the recognition of internships abroad, the rector revealed that he was in favor of flexibility, with appropriate assessment of the knowledge acquired. Dr. P\u00e9ter Hermann, Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs, stressed that the aim was to ensure that the recognition of internships was unified based on comparing the curricula of the participating universities.<\/p>\n

As an example of the short-term mobility opportunities, Dr. P\u00e9ter Hermann mentioned the training of the staff and the Students\u2019 Scientific Conference (TDK) students of the Department of Prosthodontics and the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics in Vienna in January, where they were introduced to the latest technologies and practical applications of veneers. The knowledge gained there will be directly applicable in education and patient care. The Pann\u00f3nia Scholarship Programme has contributed significantly to the cost of the mobility.<\/p>\n

“Mobility programs play a pivotal role in strengthening the university’s international embeddedness, visibility, and networks. Today, when cross-border cooperation and knowledge transfer are essential to achieve world-class scientific results and to move up the rankings, scholarship programs are of particular importance. That is why I encourage all Semmelweis Citizens to submit their applications,” the rector stressed.<\/p>\n
