{"id":43516,"date":"2024-12-18T08:41:41","date_gmt":"2024-12-18T07:41:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/?p=43516"},"modified":"2025-01-23T10:38:57","modified_gmt":"2025-01-23T09:38:57","slug":"semmelweis-university-statement-on-decision-from-the-european-commission","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/2024\/12\/semmelweis-university-statement-on-decision-from-the-european-commission\/","title":{"rendered":"Semmelweis University&#8217;s statement on decision from the European Commission"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"lead\">Council Implementing Decision (EU) 2022\/2506 was adopted following certain political concerns expressed by the Council of the European Union and the European Commission. The Decision contains a package of measures designed to apply pressure to Hungary and, as a by-product, Semmelweis University and its students, researchers and hospitals have been caught in this political conflict and we are being unfairly discriminated against.<\/div>\n<p>The Council\u2019s underlying issues with the government of Hungary have little to do with the Semmelweis University, which has no influence over the actions of the Hungarian government.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, Semmelweis University lodged an application with the EU General Court against the contested Decision (see <a href=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/2023\/03\/application-for-partial-annulment-in-respect-of-council-implementing-decision-eu-2022-2506\">here<\/a>). In its order dated April 5, 2024, the General Court concluded that the contested Decision is a regulatory act which is of direct concern to the universities.
