Dr. Imre Csizmadia, world-renowned professor of chemistry, former Head of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Toronto, former colleague of the Department of Oral Diagnostics at Semmelweis University, Doctor Honoris Causa of the University, passed away on 13 July 2022, at the age of 89.<\/div>\n

Dr. Imre Csizmadia was the head of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Toronto, where he gained world fame for the first computer-aided design of an organic molecule. After his retirement, he moved back to Hungary to support Hungarian higher education, based on his years of experience.<\/p>\n

He has been a research associate of the Department of Oral Diagnostics at Semmelweis University for many years, and has published several joint articles with Dr. Csaba Dob\u00f3 Nagy, Head of the Department. He has also maintained contact with the Department of Organic Chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy, and was jointly nominated for Doctor Honoris Causa title in 2012.<\/p>\n

Professor Csizmadia has supported Semmelweis University until the end of his life, and now organized a series of summer university lectures as part of MaterialWell (EUniWell).<\/p>\n

Semmelweis University morns the loss of Dr. Imre Csizmadia, one of the greatest Hungarian chemists of the twentieth century.<\/p>\n
