To achieve this ambitious goal, it is not only necessary to generate new knowledge, but also create opportunities for open and dynamic exchange. For this reason, EUniWell has launched an Open Lecture Series on the topic of “Research on Well-being”.

The webinar series leverages EUniWell’s diverse community and provides regular opportunities for knowledge exchange across multiple disciplines allowing EUniWell academics, researchers, educators and students to initiate discussions and build professional networks. In addition to creating a multicultural and multidisciplinary meeting place for the EUniWell community, the Open Lecture Series aims to provide insights into the latest scientific developments in an accessible way.

The EUniWell Open Lecture Series was opened by Prof. Botond Roska’s lecture on „Restoring vision” in October 2021. Prof. Roska (visiting professor and former student of Semmelweis University) is the director at the Institute for Molecular and Clinical Ophthalmology Basel.

The next lecturer from Semmelweis University is Dr. György Purebl, professor, psychiatrist, and psychotherapist. Dr. Purebl’s main interests incorporate suicide prevention, sleep medicine, the interaction amongst mental and physical disorders, and psychological interventions in general health care. He is the leader of the outpatient Centre of Psychosomatic Disorder, and the director of the Institute of Behavioural Sciences.

Besides his clinical work, Dr. Purebl has achieved much experience in prevention and health promotion. He is engaged as a leading psychiatric expert in Hungarian Alliance against Depression, and in OSPI (on behalf of the Hungarian partner). He was the leader of Work Package 4 (Taking Evidence-based Actions Against Depression and Suicide, E-Health) of the EU initiative Joint Action on Mental Health and Well-being. He was the president of the Hungarian Psychiatric Association (2016-2018). Recently he is engaged as work package leader to the European MENTUPP programme (Improving workplace mental health in the construction, health and ICT sectors).

The title of Dr. Purebl’s upcoming lecture on 10 February:

“From knowledge transfer to personal development: The changing needs of Generation Z in higher education”

Higher education now involves mostly students from Generation Z (GZ). Generation Z members are characterized by utilitarianism and success-orientation, good problem management skills, and a preference for using digital technologies. Nevertheless, some other features are also more frequent amongst them, such as emotional issues, failure sensitivity, and a higher frequency of mental health struggles. Therefore, effective education of GZ involves the utilization of various new educational strategies, such as well-structured and visually attractive teaching materials, e-learning tools, and experience-based education. Although the availability of digital teaching tools is abundant, it is essential to emphasize the key importance of in-person, tutor-based learning, which is the most fundamental essence of effective education. For the sake of the students’ personal development and professional socialization, besides the curricular activities, community programs and strategies for students’ psychological support are equally important.

The lecture will be moderated by Prof. Miklós Kellermayer, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Project Leader of EUniWell at Semmelweis University.

Join the webinar via the following link: https://semmelweis.zoom.us/j/96193577688

The participation is free, registration is not required.

Eszter Turopoli, International Relations of Semmelweis University

Dr. György Purebl’s lecture in English is available online for all citizens of our partner universities.

[10,286
325,140,78,56,218
post-29876","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-education","category-x-nyitolap","tag-community","tag-euniwell","tag-international-relations","tag-partnership","tag-student-life-and-alumni
["GET
