The Society\u2019s president, Dr. Zsuzsanna F\u00fcrst, is professor emeritus at Semmelweis University\u2019s Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2778\" title=\"konf_300px\" src=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2012\/09\/konf_300px7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"154\" \/>The opening day of the jubilee conference was held at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Six internationally recognised scientists, all of whom have nurtured an intensive and highly successful scientific collaboration with the Hungarian Society for Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology, were elected honorary members of the Society: Dr. Thomas Griesbacher, Dr. Dirk van Helden, Dr. P\u00e1l Pacher, Dr. Patrizia Romualdi, Dr. Vinod P. Shah and Dr. S\u00e1ndor Szab\u00f3.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-2779\" title=\"konf-1_300px\" src=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2012\/09\/konf-1_300px.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"208\" \/>The first day of the conference continued with a series of invited lectures from three outstanding scientists: Dr. J\u00f3zsef Knoll, honorary president of the Hungarian Society for Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology, Dr. Szilveszter Vizi, former president of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and of the Society, and Dr. Ingolf Cascorbi, Chair of the Pharmacogenetics Section of the International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">A series of opera arias performed by pupils of the internationally acclaimed soprano \u00c9va Marton brought a marvellous end to the day\u2019s programme.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The conference\u2019s main patrons were Dr. J\u00f3zsef P\u00e1link\u00e1s, president of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and Dr. Mikl\u00f3s Sz\u00f3cska, state secretary for Health, while Dr. L\u00e1szl\u00f3 V\u00e9csei, President of the Section of Medical Sciences of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and Dr. \u00c1goston Sz\u00e9l, rector of Semmelweis University served as its patrons.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">P\u00e1lma Dobozi<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Translated by Gina Varga-G\u00f6nczi<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Hungarian Society for Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology celebrated its 50th anniversary with a three-day international conference held between September 19 and 21, 2012.
