The equipment procured in the project enables the automated analysis of hundreds of tissue samples based on the quantification of their protein content. The aim of the investment is to identify new drug development and therapeutic targets based on the protein analysis of healthy and tumor tissues. The project supported by the European Union was concluded on 28 September 2020 using a grant of 260 million HUF.<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft \" src=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/hirek\/files\/2021\/08\/Projekt_keszulek-422x800.jpg\" width=\"211\" height=\"400\" \/>Under the leadership of Dr. Christos Chinopoulos and within the framework of the <em>Sz\u00e9chenyi 2020<\/em> program, a Reverse Phase Protein Array platform had been installed by 28 September 2020 at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The devices purchased within the project enable the automated analysis of hundreds of healthy and tumor tissue samples removed during surgeries and the quantification of all their mitochondrial proteins in just a few days. The aim of the project is to analyze the tissue samples from a unique perspective focusing on the detailed study of the mitochondrion, the organelle supplying cells and tumor cells with energy, with the intention of identifying new targets for drug development and therapy.
