{"id":27361,"date":"2021-07-30T07:59:27","date_gmt":"2021-07-30T05:59:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/?p=27361"},"modified":"2021-07-30T10:27:28","modified_gmt":"2021-07-30T08:27:28","slug":"semmelweis-university-organizes-thanksgiving-concert-for-those-involved-in-covid-care","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/2021\/07\/semmelweis-university-organizes-thanksgiving-concert-for-those-involved-in-covid-care\/","title":{"rendered":"Semmelweis University organizes thanksgiving concert for those involved in COVID care"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong><span lang=\"en-US\">Semmelweis University\u2019s Medic Orchestra is giving a concert at the Palace of Arts on the opening evening of the academic year to university staff and students who have been involved in the fight against COVID-19 for the past year and a half. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">The concert will be opened by Dr. B\u00e9la Merkely, Rector, who will present a short video highlighting the moments of the fight against the coronavirus as a way to thank Semmelweis Citizens for their commitment<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Physicians, health care practitioners, students and relevant staff members of support<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">ing<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> areas who played a key role in the fight against the coronavirus will be invited to Semmelweis Universtiy&#8217;s thanksgiving concert. The event will be held in the evening of 1 September on the day of the opening ceremony of the new academic year. The organizers are <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Dr. \u00c9va Feket\u00e9n\u00e9 Szab\u00f3, Vice-Rector for Strategy and Development and Dr. P\u00e9ter Hermann, Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">With the concert, we would like to thank the staff of the departments who have shown <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">outstanding commitment during <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">the pandemic and Semmelweis students who volunteered and actively participated in disease control&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" align=\"justify\">\u2013 said Dr. P\u00e9ter Hermann. He pointed out that <span lang=\"en-US\">university citizens immediately knew what they had to do and the departments of the Clinical Center, the students, and the supporting areas have also performed beyond expectations, for which the entire university is grateful.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\" align=\"justify\">Dr. \u00c9va Szab\u00f3 Feket\u00e9n\u00e9 pointed out that strong collaboration has formed within the university, <span lang=\"en-US\">which is important to commemorate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cOur strength was this <span lang=\"en-US\">collaboration, since we worked as a team in a disciplined way, we continuously stayed in touch, therefore we were able to respond rapidly and flexibly to all needs. Every area played its part in the tasks. With the concert, we demonstrate that we were together in trouble, therefore we should also celebrate together\u201d, she emphasized.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"fontos_div\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">In addition to university citizens, representatives of organizations cooperating with the university, such as the National Ambulance Service, government offices, and <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Hospital Authorities<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">, will also be invited to the event. Each participating Semmelweis Citizen may bring a family member to attend the concert. Dr. \u00c9va Szab\u00f3 Feket\u00e9n\u00e9 considers it important that at a family-friendly university, family members may also be part of Semmelweis celebrations.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Both Vice-Rectors emphasized the importance of the fact that at the beginning of the epidemic, the concert of the Medic Orchestra was the last event held at the Palace of Arts before it closed down. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Now,<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> the institution will reopen its doors with the university\u2019s opening ceremony of the academic year 2021\/2022 and the thanksgiving concert of the Medic Orchestra.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_27360\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-27360\" style=\"width: 1200px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-27360\" src=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2021\/07\/RS110969_ka-20200310-C19A2217-scr.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2021\/07\/RS110969_ka-20200310-C19A2217-scr.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2021\/07\/RS110969_ka-20200310-C19A2217-scr-400x267.jpg 400w, https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2021\/07\/RS110969_ka-20200310-C19A2217-scr-900x600.jpg 900w, https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2021\/07\/RS110969_ka-20200310-C19A2217-scr-753x502.jpg 753w, https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2021\/07\/RS110969_ka-20200310-C19A2217-scr-203x135.jpg 203w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-27360\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Concert of the Medic Orchestra on 10 March, 2020 at the Palace of Arts<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">The program starts with the overture of Beethoven\u2019s King Stephen, followed by Antonin Dvo\u0159ak&#8217;s New World Symphony performed by the Medic Orchestra.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201c<span lang=\"en-US\">After the last year and a half, we have to re-evaluate our everyday lives, our human relationships, and then we can move towards a new world in light of the lessons learned and by supporting each other\u201d, said Gergely Dub\u00f3czky, conductor of the Medic Orchestra.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">According to him,<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> using <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">artistic expression<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">, they may contribute to closing and restarting, as well as <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">relieving the tensions<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> of the recent period. The conductor also emphasized that most of the orchestra members worked on the front lines, and participated in the fight against the coronavirus as students.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201c<span lang=\"en-US\">Our world has changed, but just as the hopeful end of Dvo\u0159ak&#8217;s piece, I am also confident that better times will come soon\u201d, the conductor said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">The Clinical Center, the <\/span>Directorate of Nursing Leadership and Health Care Professionals&#8217; Education<span lang=\"en-US\">, the Chancellor\u2019s Cabinet, and the Students\u2019 Union will send an invitation to the event in the upcoming weeks to those Semmelweis Citizens who played a key role in the fight against the coronavirus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">The concert organized in honor of the heroes of COVID patient care will be held on the evening of the Opening Ceremony of 2021\/22 and will be opened by Dr. B\u00e9la Merkely.
