Currently, those who have a scheduled appointment for the vaccination are awaited at <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">t<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">he university every day.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Semmelweis University was among the first institutions in the country to begin vaccination against coronavirus on 26 December, 2020. Since then, the university employees have been working every day at the vaccination points, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">even on\u00a0 weekends and on holidays<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Semmelweis University staff members have administered an average of 1,000 <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">shots<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> per day in recent weeks, therefore the number of people vaccinated against <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">coronavirus<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> at the institution\u2019s vaccination <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">points<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> until 28 July, 2021 <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">has <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">exceeded 350,000.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">\u201c<span lang=\"en-US\">T<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">he vaccination of <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">expectant<\/span> <span lang=\"en-US\">mothers was first started <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">by the university: so far 5,911 pregnant <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">women <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">and 7,050 breastfeeding mothers have been vaccinated at the institution. Semmelweis University also plays a significant role in vaccinating children between 12-15 years and also between 16-18 years. As far as the former age group is concerned, 7,287 of them have received the vaccine, and regarding the latter, the number of shots administered <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">is 4,382\u201d, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">said <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Dr. B\u00e9la Merkely, Rector.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">He also added that<span lang=\"en-US\"> Semmelweis University is one of the largest vaccination centers in Hungary with continuous <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">operation<\/span> <span lang=\"en-US\">even after the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">mass vaccination <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">campaign<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">As the Rector highlighted, the aim is to have as many people vaccinated as possible. He drew attention to the importance of receiving both shots, since adequate protection may be provided by the administration of both doses of the two-dose vaccines.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">\u201c<span lang=\"en-US\">Currently, three vaccination points are operated by the university: at the Heart and Vascular Center, at the Szent R\u00f3kus Clinical Block and at the 1st Department of Pediatrics. In recent weeks, Semmelweis University has also taken over the work of other smaller vaccination points in and around Budapest. Therefore, it may <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">occur<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> that the university administers the second vaccine shot to some people who received the first jab at <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">an external location<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u201d, highlighted Dr. Attila Szab\u00f3, President of the Clinical Center, Vice-Rector for Clinical Affairs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">As he pointed out, all vaccine types approved in Hungary have been <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">used <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">at the university, and the administration has been carried out in varying amounts.
