A total of 2,269 students were admitted <\/span>to<\/span> Semmelweis University <\/span>for the<\/span> academic year 2021\/2022 when the admission scores to higher education institutions <\/span>were announced on <\/span>22 <\/span>July. <\/span>Out of these students, <\/span>150 will have to pay tuition fee<\/span>. In the field of medicine and health sciences, the scores <\/span>at Semmelweis University were the highest again this year.<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are pleased to announce that in the field of medical and health science training, Semmelweis University <\/span>continues to receive the highest number of<\/span> a<\/span>pplications<\/span> in the first place. We also have the highest scores<\/span>: depending on the type of training <\/span>students may need <\/span>20-25 <\/span>points more for a successful admission <\/span>than in the case of other institutions\u201d, <\/span>pointed out Dr. P\u00e9ter Hermann, Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs.<\/span><\/p>\n

He also added that <\/span>c<\/span>ompared to last year, the number of students <\/span>in the different<\/span> training <\/span>program<\/span>s<\/span> increased, and based on the number of admissions, all faculties were able to use their maximum capacities. <\/span>According to Dr. P\u00e9ter Hermann, a lot more students apply for the university’s popular <\/span>training programs than there are seats, <\/span>which ensures that the university <\/span>has the opportunity to<\/span> admit the <\/span>most talented<\/span> applicants.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"\u201c403 students were admitted to the Faculty of Medicine this year, 10 points more were needed to be admitted to the Faculty this year than last year. The score limit was 437 – this is the highest in the country in the field of medicine and health sciences. On average, one needs 25 points more to be admitted to Semmelweis University than to other higher education institutions in the country\u201d, highlighted Dr. Mikl\u00f3s Kellermayer, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine.<\/span><\/p>\n

He also added that <\/span>this also indicates that the academic performance of students admitted to the university is far above the national average. <\/span>As the Dean pointed out, they<\/span> are optimistic about the <\/span>academic <\/span>year ahead.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Faculty of Health and Public Administration participated in the current admission process with one bachelor and three master\u2019s programs. T<\/span>he number of students admitted has increased significantly this year <\/span>compared to last year\u2019s number of 95:<\/span> this year <\/span>167 <\/span>students <\/span>have been<\/span> admitted<\/span>. <\/span>The increase is due to the fact that the <\/span>Health Care Manager M<\/span>aster’s <\/span>P<\/span>rogram <\/span>will be offered in the framework of a <\/span>full-time <\/span>training as well<\/span> in addition to the previous<\/span>ly available long distance training. In addition, admission to the master’s program in interdisciplinary family science has also been announced for the first time. This year we were able to admit 15 more students for our bachelor\u2019s program in health care management, however, all three of our institutes also plan to announce additional admission <\/span>procedures <\/span>for the remaining few places\u201d, pointed out Dr. Judit L\u00e1m, Vice-Dean for General Affairs at the Faculty of Health and Public Administration.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c1,335 students have been admitted by the Faculty of Health Sciences, which is a significant increase, as this number is 108 more than last year\u201d, emphasized Dr. Gabriella D\u00f6rnyei Bedn\u00e1rikn\u00e9, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences.<\/span> She also added that out of 1,335 students, 179 have been admitted to a master\u2019s program.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhile the number of applicants for health science <\/span>training programs<\/span> has decreased on a national level, <\/span>the highest number of<\/span> first-year students <\/span>of all time will <\/span>start their studies from September at the <\/span>F<\/span>aculty\u201d, <\/span>pointed out the Dean.<\/span><\/p>\n

The highest score, 434 points, was required for the physiotherapist training this year as well, while the second highest score with 405 points was required to be admitted for the dietetics training program. According to Dr. Gabriella D\u00f6rnyei Bedn\u00e1rikn\u00e9, the construction of the new premises of the Faculty will be completed by next year, which will ensure a further capacity enhancement.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"\u201cTh<\/span>is year, the<\/span> Faculty of Dentistry has admitted far more <\/span>students<\/span> than usual: 111 <\/span>students will begin their studies from September in the <\/span>state-<\/span>funded<\/span> program <\/span>and 5 <\/span>students will participate in a fee-paying<\/span> program.<\/span> Every year, there are students, who re-apply most often when their exam opportunities have run out, so that they still have the opportunity to continue their studies by starting over again. Their admission is extremely disadvantageous for the Faculty, because in spite of their recent successful entrance examinations, they do not continue their studies – by having their previously completed subjects approved – in the first <\/span>year<\/span>. This year, 11 <\/span>students<\/span> took advantage of this opportunity, but fortunately, the Faculty was <\/span>allowed <\/span>for the first time to increase the number of <\/span>admitted students <\/span>by the same amount <\/span>by the Educational Authority<\/span>, <\/span>therefore<\/span> now we <\/span>do not have any loss as far as the number of possible <\/span>admissions<\/span> is concerned\u201d, highlighted Dr. K\u00e1roly Bartha, Vice-Dean for Educational Affairs at the Faculty of Dentistry.<\/span><\/p>\n

A<\/span>ccording to him, due to the unusual secondary school final examinations this year during the coronavirus epidemic, the <\/span>scores were slightly lowered compared to <\/span>previous years, but the same as last year\u2019s 426 points. As the Vice-Dean pointed out, Semmelweis University’s Faculty of Dentistry continued to require the highest score <\/span>limit<\/span> for admission, therefore the Faculty maintained its leading position among similar training programs.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences managed to admit almost the maximum number of students numbers to its training program during this year’s admission procedure. 166 students have been admitted to the possible 170 places, out of whom 23 students will pay tuition fee\u201d, pointed out Dr. Istv\u00e1n Antal, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the Dean, this year’s entrance examinations turned out to be <\/span>slightly <\/span>less successful <\/span>than those of last year<\/span> due to the fact that oral exams were canceled du<\/span>ring<\/span> the epidemic. Nevertheless, the 380 points were required for the university\u2019s state-funded <\/span>bachelor program in<\/span> pharmac<\/span>eutical sciences<\/span> this year as well.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"\u201cThis year, 317 points were <\/span>required<\/span> for admission to <\/span>the <\/span>Andr\u00e1s Pet\u0151 Faculty, more <\/span>points<\/span> than last year. <\/span>This year, <\/span>82 students <\/span>have been <\/span>admitted to the program\u201d, <\/span>emphasized Dr. L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Matos, Vice-Dean for Educational Affairs at Andr\u00e1s Pet\u0151 Faculty.<\/span><\/p>\n

He also added that <\/span>the increase was necessary because <\/span>the C<\/span>onductor BA program is based on several different fields and <\/span>requires <\/span>more thorough knowledge acquired in high schools. However, the <\/span>F<\/span>aculty still has vacant places <\/span>for the training<\/span>, for which a<\/span>n additional admission<\/span> procedure will be announced in August.<\/span><\/p>\n
