{"id":27317,"date":"2021-07-23T18:52:30","date_gmt":"2021-07-23T16:52:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/?p=27317"},"modified":"2022-10-19T10:45:41","modified_gmt":"2022-10-19T08:45:41","slug":"higher-education-admissions-semmelweis-university-is-the-most-popular-in-the-field-of-health-care","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/2021\/07\/higher-education-admissions-semmelweis-university-is-the-most-popular-in-the-field-of-health-care\/","title":{"rendered":"Higher education admissions: Semmelweis University is the most popular in the field of health care"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong><span lang=\"en-US\">A total of 2,269 students were admitted <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">to<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> Semmelweis University <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">for the<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> academic year 2021\/2022 when the admission scores to higher education institutions <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">were announced on <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">22 <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">July. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Out of these students, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">150 will have to pay tuition fee<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">. In the field of medicine and health sciences, the scores <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">at Semmelweis University were the highest again this year.<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201c<span lang=\"en-US\">We are pleased to announce that in the field of medical and health science training, Semmelweis University <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">continues to receive the highest number of<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> a<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">pplications<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> in the first place. We also have the highest scores<\/span>:<span lang=\"en-US\"> depending on the type of training <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">students may need <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">20-25 <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">points more for a successful admission <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">than in the case of other institutions\u201d, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">pointed out Dr. P\u00e9ter Hermann, Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">He also added that <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">c<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">ompared to last year, the number of students <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">in the different<\/span> <span lang=\"en-US\">training <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">program<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">s<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> increased, and based on the number of admissions, all faculties were able to use their maximum capacities. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">According to Dr. P\u00e9ter Hermann, a lot more students apply for the university&#8217;s popular <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">training programs than there are seats, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">which ensures that the university <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">has the opportunity to<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> admit the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">most talented<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> applicants.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-27315\" src=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2021\/07\/RS109049_C19A6358-scr-267x400-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"267\" height=\"400\" \/>\u201c<span lang=\"en-US\">403 students were admitted to the Faculty of Medicine this year, 10 points more were needed to be admitted to the Faculty this year than last year. The score limit was 437 &#8211; this is the highest in the country in the field of medicine and health sciences. On average, one needs 25 points more to be admitted to Semmelweis University than to other higher education institutions in the country\u201d, highlighted Dr. Mikl\u00f3s Kellermayer, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">He also added that <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">this also indicates that the academic performance of students admitted to the university is far above the national average. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">As the Dean pointed out, they<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> are optimistic about the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">academic <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">year ahead.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201c<span lang=\"en-US\">The Faculty of Health and Public Administration participated in the current admission process with one bachelor and three master\u2019s programs. T<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">he number of students admitted has increased significantly this year <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">compared to last year\u2019s number of 95:<\/span> <span lang=\"en-US\">this year <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">167 <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">students <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">have been<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> admitted<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">The increase is due to the fact that the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Health Care Manager M<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">aster&#8217;s <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">P<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">rogram <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">will be offered in the framework of a <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">full-time <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">training as well<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> in addition to the previous<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">ly available long distance training. In addition, admission to the master&#8217;s program in interdisciplinary family science has also been announced for the first time. This year we were able to admit 15 more students for our bachelor\u2019s program in health care management, however, all three of our institutes also plan to announce additional admission <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">procedures <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">for the remaining few places\u201d, pointed out Dr. Judit L\u00e1m, Vice-Dean for General Affairs at the Faculty of Health and Public Administration.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201c<span lang=\"en-US\">1,335 students have been admitted by the Faculty of Health Sciences, which is a significant increase, as this number is 108 more than last year\u201d, emphasized Dr. Gabriella D\u00f6rnyei Bedn\u00e1rikn\u00e9, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences.<\/span> <span lang=\"en-US\">She also added that out of 1,335 students, 179 have been admitted to a master\u2019s program.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201c<span lang=\"en-US\">While the number of applicants for health science <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">training programs<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> has decreased on a national level, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">the highest number of<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> first-year students <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">of all time will <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">start their studies from September at the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">F<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">aculty\u201d, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">pointed out the Dean.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">The highest score, 434 points, was required for the physiotherapist training this year as well, while the second highest score with 405 points was required to be admitted for the dietetics training program. According to Dr. Gabriella D\u00f6rnyei Bedn\u00e1rikn\u00e9, the construction of the new premises of the Faculty will be completed by next year, which will ensure a further capacity enhancement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-27316\" src=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2021\/07\/RS110756_C19A1174-scr-400x267-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" srcset=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2021\/07\/RS110756_C19A1174-scr-400x267-1.jpg 400w, https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2021\/07\/RS110756_C19A1174-scr-400x267-1-203x135.jpg 203w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/>\u201c<span lang=\"en-US\">Th<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">is year, the<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> Faculty of Dentistry has admitted far more <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">students<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> than usual: 111 <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">students will begin their studies from September in the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">state-<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">funded<\/span> <span lang=\"en-US\">program <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">and 5 <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">students will participate in a fee-paying<\/span> <span lang=\"en-US\">program.<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> Every year, there are students, who re-apply most often when their exam opportunities have run out, so that they still have the opportunity to continue their studies by starting over again. Their admission is extremely disadvantageous for the Faculty, because in spite of their recent successful entrance examinations, they do not continue their studies &#8211; by having their previously completed subjects approved &#8211; in the first <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">year<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">. This year, 11 <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">students<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> took advantage of this opportunity, but fortunately, the Faculty was <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">allowed <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">for the first time to increase the number of <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">admitted students <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">by the same amount <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">by the Educational Authority<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">therefore<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> now we <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">do not have any loss as far as the number of possible <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">admissions<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> is concerned\u201d, highlighted Dr. K\u00e1roly Bartha, Vice-Dean for Educational Affairs at the Faculty of Dentistry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">A<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">ccording to him, due to the unusual secondary school final examinations this year during the coronavirus epidemic, the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">scores were slightly lowered compared to <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">previous years, but the same as last year\u2019s 426 points. As the Vice-Dean pointed out, Semmelweis University&#8217;s Faculty of Dentistry continued to require the highest score <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">limit<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> for admission, therefore the Faculty maintained its leading position among similar training programs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201c<span lang=\"en-US\">The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences managed to admit almost the maximum number of students numbers to its training program during this year&#8217;s admission procedure. 166 students have been admitted to the possible 170 places, out of whom 23 students will pay tuition fee\u201d, pointed out Dr. Istv\u00e1n Antal, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">According to the Dean, this year&#8217;s entrance examinations turned out to be <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">slightly <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">less successful <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">than those of last year<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> due to the fact that oral exams were canceled du<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">ring<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> the epidemic. Nevertheless, the 380 points were required for the university\u2019s state-funded <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">bachelor program in<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> pharmac<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">eutical sciences<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> this year as well.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-27314\" src=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2021\/07\/RS69952_KA-20171025-IMG_8310-scr-400x267-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" srcset=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2021\/07\/RS69952_KA-20171025-IMG_8310-scr-400x267-1.jpg 400w, https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2021\/07\/RS69952_KA-20171025-IMG_8310-scr-400x267-1-203x135.jpg 203w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/>\u201c<span lang=\"en-US\">This year, 317 points were <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">required<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> for admission to <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Andr\u00e1s Pet\u0151 Faculty, more <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">points<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> than last year. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">This year, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">82 students <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">have been <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">admitted to the program\u201d, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">emphasized Dr. L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Matos, Vice-Dean for Educational Affairs at Andr\u00e1s Pet\u0151 Faculty.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">He also added that <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">the increase was necessary because <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">the C<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">onductor BA program is based on several different fields and <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">requires <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">more thorough knowledge acquired in high schools.
