Since its establishment Semmelweis University has been a leading institution of higher education in Hungary and the Central European region within the area of medicine and health sciences. Semmelweis University has a number of dormitories and clinics, eight of these facilities will receive funding in the framework of the project &#8220;Energy modernization of Semmelweis University&#8217;s facilities\u201d (KEHOP-5.2.4-15-2016-00004).<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>The program started in 2016, the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery was the first facility in the project to be modernized under. Last year the renovation was slowed down due by the pandemic restrictions, however three Semmelweis facilities had been successfully renovated during this period: the Balassa J\u00e1nos dormitory, the 1st Department of Pediatrics and one of the buildings of the Faculty of Health and Public Administration (situated at 15 Ferenc t\u00e9r).<\/p>\n<p>Hundreds of doors and windows, cables and radiators have been replaced. The outdated heating system got fully renovated and heating regulators had been installed. The facade and the roof are now waterproof, equipped with thermal insulation.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fontos_div\">\n<p>The project is one of the biggest, most important energetic modernization that Semmelweis University has seen in years. The refurbished facilities made life of hundreds of students and university staff more convenient. The clinics are visited by thousands of patients every year, from now on they can get their medical treatment in a completely modern environment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The energetic modernization process of the three sites was carried out in the value of 1 billion HUF within the framework of The KEHOP project with a total budget of 3.8 billion HUF.<\/p>\n<p>Further renovations are being currently carried out at five facilities: the Department of Neurology, the 2nd Department of Pediatrics, the Clinical Block in T\u00f6m\u0151 utca and the Lajos Markusovszky dormitory. The reconstruction was provided within a framework of joint funding of Hungary and the European Union.
