{"id":25680,"date":"2021-04-26T10:59:17","date_gmt":"2021-04-26T08:59:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/?p=25680"},"modified":"2022-10-19T11:11:49","modified_gmt":"2022-10-19T09:11:49","slug":"the-who-regional-director-for-europe-aims-to-expand-the-cooperation-with-semmelweis-university","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/2021\/04\/the-who-regional-director-for-europe-aims-to-expand-the-cooperation-with-semmelweis-university\/","title":{"rendered":"WHO Regional Director for Europe aims to expand the cooperation with Semmelweis University"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong><span lang=\"en-US\">Dr.<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> Hans Kluge, Regional Director for Europe of the World Health Organization (WHO) visit<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">ed<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> Semmelweis University, where <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">he talked about expanding collaboration opportunities d<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">uring his meeting with <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Dr. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">B\u00e9la Merkely, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Rector<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Dr. Kluge<\/span> <span lang=\"en-US\">expressed his appreciation for <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">the university&#8217;s outstanding role in infection control during the coronavirus epidemic in Hungary.<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201c<span lang=\"en-US\">It is important that people trust science, since this will help us prepare for the future, and Semmelweis University has a significant role in this respect\u201d, said Dr. Hans Kluge, Regional Director for Europe of the World Health Organization (WHO) during his visit at Semmelweis University.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">He pointed out that both WHO and Semmelweis University are at the forefront of innovation and development, with a strong emphasis on comprehensible communication, and both aim to become European centers of excellence. Dr. Kluge also emphasized the close cooperation between the two organizations mentioning the collaboration with the Institute of Behavioral Sciences as an example or the role of the Health Services Management Training Center as a WHO Collaborating Center with a particularly strong focus on digital health.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201c<span lang=\"en-US\">I see further opportunities for collaboration in this area, but we would like to expand our relationship with Semmelweis University in other <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">fields<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> as well\u201d said <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">D<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">r. Dr. Kluge also said that they aim to serve WHO member states more effectively, therefore, they would like to rely more on the knowledge of higher education partners such as Semmelweis University in the future, and to work more closely together on a regional level.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"fontos_div\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Dr. Hans Kluge <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">expressed his appreciation for <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">the outstanding role Semmelweis University played in infection control during the coronavirus epidemic in Hungary, both in terms of patient care and testing, as well as in research and innovation activities related to the epidemic. H<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">e<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> also spoke about Hungary&#8217;s vaccination strategy with acclaim, which allowed healthcare workers and <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">medical <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">students to participate\u00a0 in the fight against the pandemic with full force.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">At the meeting, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Dr. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">B\u00e9la Merkely, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Rector<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> emphasized that the university is open to <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">expanding the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">cooperation with WHO in <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">further<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> areas as well. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">The rector<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> pointed out that <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Semmelweis University, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">as one of the largest COVID <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">patient care<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> providers and vaccination centers in Hungary, has considerable experience, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">and is<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> ready to share <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">its knowledge <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">through international partnerships. Dr. Attila Szab\u00f3, Vice-Rector for Clinical <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Affairs<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">, President of the Clinical Center, highlighted the developments of the university in the field of eHealth, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">mean<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">while <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">D<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">r.
