Compared to last year’s results, Semmelweis University has improved 6 places and ranked 64th in the Emerging Economies University list<\/span> <\/em><\/a>of Times Higher Education (THE), achieving the most prominent place among Hungarian higher education institutions. In the category of Life sciences and medicine<\/em> <\/a>recently published by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), Semmelweis University has improved by 23 positions, thus finishing at the 272nd place, receiving the best ranking in Hungary.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) international ranking by subject compares universities around the world <\/span>based on<\/span> five major disciplines.<\/span><\/p>\n

Semmelweis University ranked 232nd in the Life sciences and medicine category<\/a>, advancing 23 places compared to last year\u2019s 272nd, achieving the best result in Hungary.

The University of Debrecen is <\/span>positioned <\/span>between 401-450, while the University of Szeged is between 451-500. <\/span><\/p>\n

In the list of narrower and more specialized disciplines, Semmelweis University ranks between 201-250 in the fields of Medicine and Pharmacy & Pharmacology.<\/span><\/p>\n

When <\/span>compiling <\/span>the<\/span> QS international field rankings, four aspects <\/span>are taken into consideration<\/span>: the frequency of citations of scientific works related to the institution, the reputation of the institution in the scientific arena, employee opinions, and the bibliographic indicator (h-index citations).<\/span><\/p>\n

T<\/span>he Times Higher Education Emerging Economies University list <\/span><\/a>has also been published recently<\/span>, which compares universities in emerging economies; 606 institutions from 48 countries are included in the compilation, ranked according to 13 indicators.<\/span><\/p>\n

O<\/span>ut o<\/span>f the Hungarian universities, only Semmelweis University managed to be among the top 100, improving 6 places compared to last year’s 70th place: <\/span>it ranked <\/span>64th achieving the best result out of the nine Hungarian institutions on the list.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

E\u00f6tv\u00f6s Lor\u00e1nd University is 147th, the University of P\u00e9cs is 155th, the University of Debrecen is 195th, <\/span>and <\/span>the University of Szeged <\/span>ranked between <\/span>201-250. Budapest University of Technology and Economics and Corvinus University of Budapest <\/span>ranked between <\/span>351-400, <\/span>and S<\/span>zent Istv\u00e1n University i<\/span>s between <\/span>401-500. <\/span>T<\/span>he University of Miskolc, which is a new participant in this ranking, <\/span>ranked<\/span> over 501st place.<\/span><\/p>\n
