The new student spaces in the Nagyv\u00e1rad t\u00e9r Theoretical Building (NET) have been opened. The interconnecting bridge on the first floor, above the main entrance, as well as the space in front of it and the lounge area, have gone through a HUF 18 million renovation, taking into account student needs.<\/div>\n

So far the university has spent some HUF 170 million from its own funds on renewing student spaces in several locations, including the Anatomy Block, the courtyard of the Central Patient Care Building and the NET building. The cost of the upgrades in the NET building was HUF 18 million, and a tour of the new spaces last week was attended by the leaders of the university and student organizations.<\/p>\n

The development of student spaces at the university was started as part of the rector\u2019s program, with the goal of creating a quiet, inspiring environment where students can prepare, study and build community relations between two classes.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u2013 said rector Dr. B\u00e9la Merkely at last week\u2019s event. He emphasized that he wants students to feel at home at Semmelweis University.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn addition to the renewal of existing infrastructure, the creation of similar community, student spaces will be a priority at every new investment and development,\u201d said chancellor Dr. L\u00edvia Pavlik, adding that students are the most important players of the university, so it is a fundamental goal that they feel good here.<\/p>\n\r\n [slb_exclude]\r\n

Feket\u00e9n\u00e9 Dr. \u00c9va Szab\u00f3, Vice-Rector for Strategy and Development, noted that the university has proven that it can function well in a digital environment as well, as theoretical training has been successfully moved online.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven so, during these times we feel even more how important in-person meetings are. Therefore it is particularly pleasing that once the university can return to fully in-person education, such renewed spaces will be waiting for the students,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cStudents indicated, through the Students\u2019 Union (H\u00d6K) that it would be great to transform these neglected areas into lively hubs of student life. The conditions here are perfect to create a pleasant environment for either studying of relaxing, drinking coffee, chatting with friends or just resting,\u201d said B\u00e1lint Tripolszky, President of the Students’ Union. The furniture, including the colors and style, was selected by the Students’ Union and is also owned by the organization. The necessary construction and fitting works (e.g. replacing tiles, painting, removing and building walls, replacing doors, installing communication cables, painting the suspended ceiling, replacing ceiling lighting) were coordinated by the Directorate General of Technical Affairs.<\/p>\n
