{"id":24507,"date":"2021-02-26T08:35:39","date_gmt":"2021-02-26T07:35:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/?p=24507"},"modified":"2021-02-26T13:05:02","modified_gmt":"2021-02-26T12:05:02","slug":"the-universitys-vaccination-program-in-the-nursing-homes-of-the-capital-has-been-completed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/2021\/02\/the-universitys-vaccination-program-in-the-nursing-homes-of-the-capital-has-been-completed\/","title":{"rendered":"The university&#8217;s vaccination program in the nursing homes of the capital completed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong><span lang=\"en-US\">Semmelweis University staff <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">administered the second shots of <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Pfizer-BioNTe<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">ch <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">coronavirus vaccine to nearly 10,000 people living and working in social institutions <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">with<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">in three days. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">With this, the vaccination program of the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">nursing<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> homes in the capital <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">h<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">as <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">been<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> completed.<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Semmelweis University was among the first to start administering COVID-19 vaccines on 26 December, 2020. It is Semmelweis University\u2019s responsibility to vaccinate the employees of hospitals, health service providers (for example general practitioners, home pediatricians, dentists and their assistants) as it is ordered by the government, as well as the employees of the National Ambulance Service and Semmelweis Citizens (staff, students) based on the vaccination schedule of the National Public Health Centre. In addition, the vaccination program in the social institutions of the capital started on 9 January, 2021 in cooperation with the Government Office of Budapest. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201c<span lang=\"en-US\">The vaccination of residents and workers has been uninterrupted. Three weeks ago, nearly 10,000 people received the first shot of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine as part of a <a href=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/2021\/02\/within-four-days-vaccines-have-been-administered-at-nearly-200-nursing-homes-by-university-staff\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">vaccination campaign<\/a>, which was followed by the second shot this weekend. With this, the majority of residents and workers have been vaccinated during the vaccination program of the nursing homes in the capital\u201d, said Dr. Attila Szab\u00f3, Vice-Rector for Clinical Affairs, President of the Clinical Centre.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"fontos_div\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">During the vaccination campaign, which <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">took place<\/span> <span lang=\"en-US\">between<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> Friday <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">and<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> Sunday, Semmelweis University staff vaccinated 9,800 residents and workers in more than 100 locations.<\/span> <span lang=\"en-US\">Ne<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">arly 500 staff <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">members<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">, including <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">physicians<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">health care professionals<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> and students <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">participated and<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> were <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">assisted by staff <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">members of the Directorate General of Technical Affairs.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-24505\" src=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2021\/02\/RS127056_C19A3657-scr-400x267-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" srcset=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2021\/02\/RS127056_C19A3657-scr-400x267-1.jpeg 400w, https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2021\/02\/RS127056_C19A3657-scr-400x267-1-203x135.jpeg 203w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/>The university has also been vaccinating those who have been <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">assigned<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> by their <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">GPs<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> since <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">4 <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">February, 2021. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Since <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">26 <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">December, 2020, the staff of the institution ha<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">ve<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> administered more than 60,000 vaccines, none of which has caused any serious complications or side effects. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">As the Vice-Rector for Clinical Affairs pointed out, in the course of <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">vaccinations campaign carried out during the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">weekend, allergic reaction on the skin occurred in two cases, both of which were treated on the spot and <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">the patients\u00a0 <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">were released after a short observation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201c<span lang=\"en-US\">On behalf of the Clinical Centre, I would like to thank the university staff for their support in administering the vaccines. We have been fighting the coronavirus epidemic for a year.
