Semmelweis University has improved its previous position in the 2021 world rankings of the \u201cUS News Best Global Universities<\/a>\u201d <\/b><\/span><\/span>in <\/b><\/span><\/span>several disciplines. The university was ranked related to 8 medical and health science professions, ranking first in each field in Hungary. <\/b><\/span><\/span>The university also achieved the best ranking this year in the \u201cCardiology and Cardiovascular System\u201d field, which improved twenty-five places and became the 87<\/b><\/span><\/span>th<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/sup> best higher education institution in the world in this field.<\/b><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Semmelweis University has been included in lists of eight different disciplines of the \u201cUS News Best Global Universities\u201d 2021 world rankings. <\/span><\/span>Th<\/span><\/span>is year, th<\/span><\/span>e university achieved the best result again in the category \u201cCardiology and Cardiovascular System\u201d, which improved 25 places and became the 87<\/span><\/span>th <\/span><\/span><\/sup>best in the world in this field. <\/span><\/span>T<\/span><\/span>he analysis of the individual indicators shows that the citation of university publications on an international level is outstanding in this field, and in this respect the institution ranked 17<\/span><\/span>th<\/span><\/span><\/sup>. <\/span><\/span>(T<\/span><\/span>he relevant indicator examined the proportion of all scientific publications related to the university in this field that accounted for the top one percent of the world’s most cited publications.)<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Compared to its previous position, Semmelweis University has also advanced in the rankings of Clinical Medicine (200<\/span>th<\/span><\/sup> place), Oncology (217<\/span>th<\/span><\/sup> place), Biology and Biochemistry (321<\/span>st<\/span><\/sup> place<\/span>).<\/span> In 2021, Semmelweis University was <\/span>ranked 155<\/span>th<\/span><\/sup> in the list in the <\/span>recently introduced <\/span>field of Endocrinology and Metabolism, <\/span>202<\/span>nd<\/span><\/sup> in Cell Biology, 306<\/span>th<\/span><\/sup> in Neuroscience and Behavioral Science, and 345<\/span>th<\/span><\/sup> in Molecular Biology and Genetics.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

The universities were compared <\/span><\/span>based on 13 indicators, most of which are related to objectively measurable scientific performance (e.g. number and proportion of publications, citations, international collaborations, etc.), while two indicators are based on a <\/span><\/span>so-called<\/span><\/span> reputation survey. The ranking includes nearly 1,500 higher education institutions from more than 80 countries.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
