The list of researchers, which is based on the data of selected content of the Web of Science, a multidisciplinary international knowledge database, contains a total of 6,400 people from all around the world.<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2020\/11\/RS86202_ADZ_20181127_0117-scr.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-23443\" src=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2020\/11\/RS86202_ADZ_20181127_0117-scr-400x267.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" srcset=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2020\/11\/RS86202_ADZ_20181127_0117-scr-400x267.jpg 400w, https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2020\/11\/RS86202_ADZ_20181127_0117-scr-900x600.jpg 900w, https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2020\/11\/RS86202_ADZ_20181127_0117-scr-753x502.jpg 753w, https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2020\/11\/RS86202_ADZ_20181127_0117-scr-203x135.jpg 203w, https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2020\/11\/RS86202_ADZ_20181127_0117-scr.jpg 950w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a>The ranking includes researchers who are highly cited in one of 21 scientific fields, or have cross-field citations. The editors of the list used highly cited publications published between 2009 and 2019 to compile the ranking, i.e. papers that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and year. In the academic arena, citations are the metric for scientific impact.<\/p>\n<p>The list of Highly Cited Researchers 2020 includes two scientists working in Hungary, one of whom is Dr. P\u00e9ter Ferdinandy, Semmelweis University\u2019s Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation, director of the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy, and head of the Cradiometabolic Research Group and the MTA-SE Systems Pharmacology research group. Dr. Ferdinandy was included in the list based on his numerous highly-cited papers in the categories of pharmacology and toxicology, and clinical medicine. He also appeared on the list previously in 2014 and 2017.
