During the 2 days of the event, 20 different fields of medicine will be presented by 70 renowned Hungarian and international speakers. Participation in the English-language, large-scale international clinical conference is free, but registration is necessary.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>\u201cMatching the spirit of the large-scale event series of the 250<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary year, we have organized a conference showcasing the clinical activity of Semmelweis University and demonstrating its role in the university\u2019s education, patient care and research and innovation activities.\u201d, said Dr. Attila Szab\u00f3, Vice-Rector for Clinical Affairs and President of the Clinical Centre, the main organizer of the event.<\/p>\n<p>The conference was originally planned to take place in the spring, but it had to be postponed due to the epidemiological situation. On 9-10 November the large-scale event is held in online form, via Zoom with an almost unchanged programme.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSemmelweis 250 Clinical Conference will present the clinical activity of Semmelweis University in its complexity; it will not focus on one field of medicine, but it will provide a multidisciplinary overview of the broad spectrum and high quality of patient care, clinical and translational research as well as our extensive international relations and collaborations.\u201d, said Dr. B\u00e9la Merkely, Rector.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Semmelweis 250 Klinikai Konferencia \/\/ Semmelweis 250 Clinical Conference\" width=\"753\" height=\"424\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/E33XN0BdnGA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The event will feature more than 20 fields of medicine represented by 70 speakers including 20 international experts from all around the world from the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore and Germany among others.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the international epidemiological situation, the opening plenary session of the conference will focus on the educational, scientific, patient care and public health challenges of COVID-19. In this session Dr. B\u00e9la Merkely will hold a lecture and experiences of the epidemiological situation at Harvard University will also be presented.<\/p>\n<p>Further topics of the conference sessions are cardiology, surgery, paediatrics, emergency medicine, internal medicine and many other fields.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMoreover, it is our aim to reach out to young people as well; participation in the international professional programme is worth 1 credit point per day for 4<sup>th<\/sup>, 5<sup>th<\/sup> and 6<sup>th<\/sup> year students of the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Dentistry, the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the School of PhD Studies.\u201d, said Dr. Attila Szab\u00f3.<\/p>\n<p>The conference features Hungarian and international experts alike, therefore anyone will have the opportunity to initiate a discussion, talk about certain issues and grow their network. Participation in the conference is free but registration is necessary.
