{"id":21858,"date":"2020-07-09T15:36:51","date_gmt":"2020-07-09T13:36:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/?p=21858"},"modified":"2022-10-19T11:10:18","modified_gmt":"2022-10-19T09:10:18","slug":"euniwell-is-selected-as-a-european-university","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/2020\/07\/euniwell-is-selected-as-a-european-university\/","title":{"rendered":"EUniWell is selected as a \u201cEuropean University\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"lead\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.euniwell.eu\/\">EUniWell<\/a> \u2013 the European University for Well-Being \u2013 is among the consortia selected for funding in the second \u201cEuropean Universities\u201d call for proposals which is part of the ERASMUS+ programme of the European Commission.<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>The European Commission\u2019s Directorate General for Education and Culture has selected 24 European University Alliances, which will obtain funding for their projects to become the \u2018European Universities\u2019 of the future.<\/p>\n<p>EUniWell unites seven European universities from across diverse European regions. The Universities of Birmingham, Cologne, Florence, Leiden, Linnaeus, Nantes, and Semmelweis (Budapest) form the \u201cEuropean University for Well-Being\u201d. Through top-level education and research and its wide range of diverse institutional profiles, this alliance will help to drive transformation to support individual, social and environmental well-being in a global setting.<\/p>\n<p>EUniWell unites 244,000 students and 36,500 staff members. In coming together at this scale and reach, the seven partner universities of EUniWell recognise their responsibilities for training the next generation of Europeans, enabling scientific breakthroughs and ensuring successful knowledge transfer to benefit society as a whole. As Europe\u2019s next generation, students are the core of the alliance and are involved in all its aspects including governance.<\/p>\n<p>EUniWell has established a network with 102 associated partners including the seven city councils as well as numerous academic institutions, educational, cultural, and health organizations and companies who support EUniWell\u2019s vision and mission.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2020\/07\/Euniwell_press_release_picture.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-21859 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2020\/07\/Euniwell_press_release_picture.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1807\" height=\"940\" srcset=\"https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2020\/07\/Euniwell_press_release_picture.jpg 1807w, https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2020\/07\/Euniwell_press_release_picture-400x208.jpg 400w, https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2020\/07\/Euniwell_press_release_picture-900x468.jpg 900w, https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2020\/07\/Euniwell_press_release_picture-1536x799.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/semmelweis.hu\/english\/files\/2020\/07\/Euniwell_press_release_picture-753x392.jpg 753w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1807px) 100vw, 1807px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>EUniWell has identified four key areas for research and teaching, closely linked to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in which the partner universities have strong expertise and which, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, have gained additional urgency:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Well-Being &amp; Health (SDG 3, Good Health &amp; Well-Being)<\/li>\n<li>Individual &amp; Social Well-Being (SDG 16, Peace, Justice &amp; Strong Institutions)<\/li>\n<li>Environment, Urbanity &amp; Well-Being (SDG 11, Sustainable Cities &amp; Communities)<\/li>\n<li>Teacher Education (SDG 4, Quality Education)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Following the funding decision, the leaders of EUniWell commented that \u201cthe selection for funding as a European University will enable us to accelerate working towards our mission and deepen our collaboration.
